There are a number of characters on the hit series Vikings that deserve their own spin-off series. Now that the show is coming to an end after season 6B, it’s time to look at a few characters who should really be getting their own spin-offs. Read on to learn more. There are spoilers ahead for the most recent season of Vikings.

Lagertha

Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) is Ragnar Lothbrok’s first wife and the mother of Bjorn Ironside. She’s a fierce shieldmaiden that’s considered the Mother of Norway. Although she is tragically killed in season 6, Lagertha lived a full life.

Lagertha was one of the most famous Vikings of her world and to see her get to that point would be well worth it. It would be interesting to see a young Lagertha grow up and first meet Ragnar. To see the two of them together again in any capacity would be ideal.

Ragnar and Lagertha had two children together, Bjorn and Gyda. Fans would like to see Gyda again after she tragically dies as just a child.

Ecbert

King Ecbert of Wessex (Linus Roache) is the cunning grandfather of Alfred and an unlikely friend of Ragnar’s. He is killed by Ragnar’s sons in revenge for Ragnar’s death, but Ecbert’s younger years would certainly be interesting to see. He spent time at the court of the Emperor Charlemagne and clearly learned the art of politics.

How did Ecbert become the King of both Wessex and Mercia? A man like this isn’t just created, he’s molded into the person he becomes by his experiences in life. Ecbert’s younger years would hold interesting situations that helped shape Ecbert into the calculating man he was in life.

Alfred

Alfred (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) is King Ecbert’s grandson who becomes Alfred the Great. If the series follows history, then Alfred will make a real name for himself. He has many years ahead of him fending off Viking attacks and trying to save Wessex from certain destruction.

Alfred is a unique character on the show and it would be nice to see him grow into his throne and flex his muscles against his enemies. He certainly deserves his own spin-off, which could last for a number of years with all the historical material to draw from.

Rollo

Rollo (Clive Standen) is Ragnar’s brother who becomes Duke Rollo of Normandy. When he’s left to winter on the banks of Paris, he makes a deal with the Emperor and chooses to marry his daughter and gain his own territories. In exchange, Rollo fends off his people against another raid on Paris.

Fans haven’t gotten a chance to see Rollo in a number of years and it would be nice to see what he’s been up to. It’s a whole new world for Rollo and his vast territories. He has his own land in Normandy and he’s made quite a name for himself.

Rollo was torn between his two worlds for years before he finally started to assimilate to his new world. I’m sure the Viking is still in him though and it leads to a colorful life. Fans would enjoy seeing Rollo’s new life in Normandy.

These are just a few of the characters on Vikings who deserve their own spin-offs once the series concludes.
