The Marvel Cinematic Universe series WandaVision has sometimes brought about more questions than answers throughout its run. Though Episode 8 finally showed exactly how Wanda created her own reality, it offered up a new question: When did Vision buy their house?

Wanda and Vision’s romance began in ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Both Wanda and Vision were introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She as a villain working with the eponymous Ultron, and he as the synthezoid created to help the Avengers take him down. Wanda switches sides and eventually defeats Ultron, joining the Avengers.

Due to her often damaging abilities, Wanda finds herself in Captain America: Civil War confined to the Avengers compound. Vision keeps her company there, and though he’s there for protection, the pair find themselves growing closer. Despite fighting on opposite sides, they establish a connection.

The end of Civil War sees Steve Rogers setting free the captured Avengers, including Wanda. In Avengers: Infinity War, the audience sees her and Vision living in Scotland. “For two years, we’ve stolen these moments, trying to see if this can work,” he tells her. “It works,” Wanda agrees. But their bliss is short-lived, as they’re attacked.

They travel back to the Avengers compound, then to Wakanda. Though Shuri works to reprogram Vision to function without the Mind Stone, they run out of time. Wanda destroys the Stone, killing Vision. Then, Thanos reverses time, extracts the Stone himself, and kills Vision. Wanda disintegrates with his snap, reappearing in Avengers: Endgame.

Since Endgame, only one Marvel project has been released, and Wanda isn’t present. Instead, fans caught up with her in the Disney+ series WandaVision. In the show, Wanda and Vision arrive in Westview, New Jersey. Their picture-perfect home transforms over decades, paying tribute to sitcoms past.

But the truth from outside the Westview Anamoly (or the Hex) reveals that decades haven’t passed at all. Rather, it’s been just a few weeks since the events of Endgame, and Wanda constructed this reality-bending world out of her grief from losing Vision.

When did Vision buy the Westview house?

Wanda goes from S.W.O.R.D. headquarters, where she sees Vision’s body in pieces, then drives to Westview. There, she pulls up to a plot of land and opens a property deed, which reads, “To grow old in” signed “V.” There’s only the foundation of the house, indicating construction was abandoned at some point.

So what’s the timeline here? Vision obviously purchased the land before his death, but when? It seems most likely that he bought it during those two years they were sharing “stolen moments,” as he called them. This means he may have been about to tell Wanda this when he asked her not to leave in Infinity War, making the moment all the more heartbreaking.
