Aside from being a record-breaking, chart-topping musician, Beyoncé acted in a few movies throughout her career. We’re not just talking about the visual albums Black is King and Lemonade. The performer actually starred alongside Steve Martin for the comedy film, The Pink Panther.

Beyoncé appeared in the movie, ‘The Pink Panther,’ as a pop superstar named Xania

Most know her for her music, but Beyoncé wears a few different hats. The performer can direct and act, even having a role in the comedy-mystery movie, The Pink Panther. This film premiered in 2006 and featured actors like Steve Martin and Kristin Chenoweth.

There, the actor starred as the pop superstar named Xania. She becomes entangled with Inspector Clouseau after the murder of her partner, Yves Gluant, and the mysterious disappearance of the “Pink Panther” diamond.

“The Pink Panther is legendary, but a lot of people my age haven’t ever seen the original,” Beyoncé said during one interview with African American Literature Book Club. “So, I think it’s great to bring it back for my generation, and to expose them to where that theme song which still sounds so modern and that legendary image of a pink cat came from. It’s great to be a part of that, because it’s history.”

This wouldn’t be the last time Beyoncé acted, as she starred in ‘Dreamgirls’ and ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’

Beyoncé’s acting career didn’t stop there, although she didn’t return for the sequel to this movie. She acted in another movie that same year, the musical Dreamgirls, where she sang “Listen” as the character Deena Jones.

A few years earlier, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter took on the role of Foxxy Cleopatra for the comedy movie, Austin Powers in Goldmember. Naturally, the performer acted in a number of her YouTube videos, even releasing “visual albums” to accompany her music.

In 2019, she collaborated with Disney and their rebooted version of The Lion King, alongside actors like Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner.

Beyoncé since acted in a number of Disney projects, including the photo-real adaptation of ‘The Lion King’

With her focus still on music, Beyoncé recently collaborated with Disney to bring fans a number of new projects. That includes the photo-real adaptation of The Lion King, where Beyoncé voiced adult Nala and even sang “Spirit” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” for the film.

She then acted (and performed) for her visual album, Black is King, a project featuring the music from The Lion King: The Gift. Of course, she also acted in the groundbreaking visual album Lemonade a few years prior.

Fans can watch (and listen) to Beyoncé with a number of Disney-owned productions, including Black is King, The Lion King (2019), and ABC’s Disney Family Singalong. To learn more about Disney+ and to subscribe, visit their website.
