Jersey Shore shook up the reality television world in 2009. Viewers were introduced to a group of eight guidos who started out as strangers but eventually became a family. When the original series ended in 2012, everyone went their separate ways — including Ronnie Ortiz-Magro

Though the cast has since reunited with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, many fans are curious about what Ortiz-Magro did for the six years he wasn’t filming Jersey Shore

Ronnie and Sam continued dating for a while

After Jersey Shore ended in 2012, Ortiz-Magro and Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola remained a couple. During the reunion special for the show, the couple shared they were still together and had plans to move in.

Sadly, their happiness did not last too long. In 2014, Ortiz-Magro and Giancola officially split. “At this time, Ronnie and I have gone our separate ways,” Giancola explained to E News.” I wish him nothing but the best. Right now, I’m focused on myself.”

Allegedly, they tried to make their relationship work once more in 2016, but the effort was short-lived. When Jersey Shore: Family Vacation premiered in 2018, Ortiz-Magro explained why he and Giancola didn’t work out.

“Once we left the shore house, me and Sam decided we were going to take the next step,” he said. “And we were getting toward that stage where it was like, I either have to sh*t or get off the pot.”

Giancola wanted an engagement, but Ortiz-Magro wasn’t ready for that level of commitment. “I wanted to do the right thing, but there was a part of me that was like, ‘I’m not going to do the right thing,'” he continued. “So I didn’t do it. I ended up cheating, she found out. I blew it.”

Ronnie starred on ‘Famously Single’

During his appearance on season 2 of Famously Single, Ortiz-Magro met Malika Haqq. After receiving advice from dating experts, they were supposed to go out and meet new people. Instead, Ortiz-Magro and Haqq ended up hitting it off.

The famed best friend of Khloé Kardashian was with Ortiz-Magro for two months. Their relationship ended in February 2017.

According to Haqq, the two were never on the same page. “I think that we define opposites attract,” she explained to E! News. “I think that in an environment that is as challenging as living in a loft for two and a half weeks with complete strangers, it’s so unrealistic [to start a relationship].”

Ronnie started dating Jen Harley

Shortly after his breakup with Haqq, Ortiz-Magro met Jen Harley. After dating for a few months, the couple announced they were expecting in December 2017. To the couple’s delight, their daughter Ariana was born in April 2018.

Despite the birth of their daughter, Ortiz-Magro and Harley’s relationship quickly turned sour. Over the next year, the couple went through several feuds, domestic abuse, and countless police reports against one another. The two are no longer together, but they are co-parenting Ariana.

When Jersey Shore: Family Vacation debuted in 2018, Ortiz-Magro returned along with the rest of the original cast — sans Giancola. He will be back when MTV starts filming season 4 of the reality series.
