How did Kate Hudson meet Danny Fujikawa?

Hudson and Fujikawa first met in the early 2000s, when Hudson was 23. She once talked about this in the caption of a photo on Instagram.

“The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder,” she wrote. “His step sisters are my best friends [Sara Foster and Erin Foster] and so it goes we have been in the same circle for over a decade!”

Sara and Erin are David Foster’s daughters. Their mother, Rebecca Dyer, was with Fujikawa’s father, Ron, for 10 years before his death in 2012. According to Ron’s obituary, Dyer was his “devoted companion.”

According to People, Hudson also once explained how much she likes that she and Fujikawa have a history together. She said, “We’ve known each other for 15 years; he’s my best friend’s stepbrother. We kinda skipped through the part of knowing what the hiccups were. You kinda skip the part of going, ‘Oh, you’re like that?’”

Part of what makes Hudson and Fujikawa’s relationship work is their mutual commitment to their family. The couple has a daughter together named Rani, who was born in 2018. They also parent Hudson’s children with previous partners.

In November 2019, Hudson told Women’s Health, “I’ve got the best man. It’s the first time I feel like I have a real teammate in this… His number one priority is family. And when we have our disputes, I feel the thing that allows us to get through them is having the same ultimate goal, and that includes being in each other’s life. It just feels so nice.”

Hudson and Fujikawa also quarantined together like many couples around the world. Fortunately, their relationship did not break down during the pandemic.

“There’s nobody else I’d want to be quarantined with right now,” she said, as reported by Entertainment Tonight. “He’s just the best.”

Hudson also shared that their sex life is good and that Fujikawa is “the right person” for her.
