Some actors make their fortune from working on hit movies or shows. But there are other celebrities who have high net worths because they were born into rich families. Armie Hammer’s family already had money for multiple generations, but he has tried to make a name for himself through acting.

Armie Hammer has starred in multiple movies

Hammer has been busy acting since 2005. He started out in smaller roles on TV shows like Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, and Desperate Housewives.

His first role that involved multiple episodes was Gabriel Edwards on Gossip Girl. Gabriel ends up having a relationship with Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively).

Hammer later appeared as the Winklevoss twins in the Oscar-winning movie, The Social Network. The actor technically only played one of the twins, but his face was placed on top of another actor named Josh Pence in post.

Hammer’s movie career picked up steam from there and he later played Oliver in Call Me By Your Name, which was also awarded at the Oscars. He will be returning to the role for a sequel.

His net worth is reportedly $16 million

Hammer’s net worth is reportedly $16 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. However, there is a good chance that it’s higher given his family’s money.

He is the great-grandson of Armand Hammer, who was an oil tycoon, according to Forbes. He acted as the chairman of Occidental Petroleum Corp and had the net worth of $180 million. Armand Hammer died in 1990. One of his sons was Julian Armand Hammer, who died in 1996. The actor’s father is Michael Armand Hammer and the son of Julian.

Michael owns multiple businesses. One of them was a production company called Armand Hammer Productions. It produced two feature-length documentaries called To the Ends of the Earth, To the Limit, and a docu-series called Backstage at the Kirov. Both of the actor’s parents are still alive.

Hammer has gotten roles where his character is very wealthy. Or he plays men who gets the attention of a new love interest. But the actor once said he doesn’t want to get roles because of his looks.

“It’s not something I think about at all. I don’t want that to be a part of the discussion,” he said according to Roanoke. “I don’t want that to be part of the decision-making. I don’t want that to be a part of how people consider me as a person. I have nothing to do with any of that.”

He added, “What I would rather people appreciate is, ‘That guy’s put in a lot of hard work’. I mean, there’s nothing I can do about the way I look.”

It looks like Hammer decided to act instead of go into the family business. It’s working well for him so far.
