Katie Cassidy’s celebrity star has been on the rise. Born into a famous family, Cassidy has taken on roles in films like Black Christmas and been a major part of the DC Comics-based television show Arrow.

Now that a spinoff of the series has been announced, it’s clear that we’ll be seeing even more of Cassidy in coming years.

What is the star’s history and net worth? Let’s take a closer look.

Cassidy is the daughter of David Cassidy, the 1970s heartthrob who was best known for playing the part of Keith Partridge in the television show The Partridge Family. He also had a successful pop music career that went hand-in-hand with his fictional singing counterpart. David Cassidy sadly passed away at the age of 67 in November of 2017.

Cassidy knew that he was suffering from dementia and health problems before he succumbed to his illness, and one of his final performances included a rendition of his famed Partridge Family song “I Think I Love You” as he mused on what legacy he would be leaving behind.

Part of that legacy includes his daughter, who used a tweet to reflect on her father’s last words of “so much wasted time.” She called it a “daily reminder” to “never waste another minute.”

Early work for Katie Cassidy included several TV series

Katie Cassidy, who was born in 1986, began her acting career in the early 2000s. Her first appearances were small roles on television shows, including a recurring character arc on 7th Heaven as Martin’s girlfriend Zoe. She then went on to the 2006 remake of Black Christmas, but it was not well-received and was mostly regarded as a flop.

More successful endeavors included a recurring role on Gossip Girls and a starring spot on the CW’s reboot of Melrose Place. It wasn’t until her appearance on Arrow in 2012 that she really found her stride, however. She plays the character of Laurel Lance, the Black Canary, in the show inspired by the DC comic series for Green Arrow.

While her character’s death was a heartbreaking loss for fans, she made a shocking reappearance later in the series as Black Siren and is now set to develop the character even further in the spinoff, which will focus on the Canaries.

The January 21, 2020 episode of Arrow served as a backdoor pilot for the new show, and fans are hoping it gets picked up for a long run.

Katie Cassidy is now an established actor

While it took a little while for Cassidy to find her place in the entertainment world, she is now solidly established as an actor with a lot of experience in the action and superhero genre. Her portrayal of the DC character has taken her into other series including Vixen and The Flash. It seems that Cassidy has developed a steady platform from which to build the rest of her career.

All of that hard work has paid off with a net worth of around $3 million. While that number may be smaller than many stars of her age, Cassidy has only recently really found her groove in the acting world, and it’s very likely that she will continue to see success both within the DC franchise and in future projects that build off of her popularity and name recognition.

She is also leveraging her success into charitable endeavors and has served as a spokesperson for the H.E.L.P Malawi foundation which aims to give educational and emotional support to rural children in Malawi.

Only time will tell where Cassidy is headed next in her career, but fans of Arrow will be anxiously awaiting news on the new spinoff series to see if they will get to continue watching their beloved characters take off in a new direction.
