Cody Simpson’s name might be making the rounds because of his relationship with Miley Cyrus, but he’s been around for a lot longer than some realize. The Australian heartthrob is, among other things, a competitive swimmer. So, how much is his net worth and is it even close to the numbers Cyrus rakes in?

At just 12 years old, Simpson was signed to Atlantic Records after his Jason Mraz and Justin Timberlake covers garnered him an internet sensation when he was discovered by a Grammy-winning producer via YouTube.

The competitive swimmer (whose parents also claim the title) once had aspirations to become an Olympic swimmer and was once “one of the most followed swimmers on social media” when he was 14 years old where the website Swim Swam deemed him “Australia’s response to Justin Bieber.”

From there, Simpson landed endorsement deals, catapulting him to the top ranks of the swimming world after breaking a 25-year-old Queensland Record and won two gold medals at the Queensland Swimming Championships. He recently joined the University of Southern California’s Trojan Swim Elite team.

His first single, “iYiYi,” in collaboration with Flo Rida, dropped in 2010 with a 2012 album, Paradise, after. His second album, Surfers Paradise, came out in 2013 which was the same time he appeared on season 18 of Dancing With the Stars. He and his partner, Witney Carson, didn’t take home the Mirrorball trophy, but they came in 9th place.

Eventually, Simpson left Atlantic. In 2015, he released the first album on his own label, Coast House, Free, while also performing in his new band, Cody Simpson and the Tide. The band released an EP in 2017.

Alongside swimming and acting, Simpson took a few roles in shows like Cougar Town and Instant Mom and played Dimitry on Broadway’s Anastasia.

What is Simpson’s net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Simpson’s total net worth an estimated $4.5 million. He’s made his money as a singer, dancer, musician, songwriter, and endorsement deals.

Now that Simpson’s name is more prominent in America, we foresee his net worth rising as he’s sure to snag more deals in the fashion, movie, or music industry.

Who’s worth more: Simpson or girlfriend, Miley Cyrus?

Simpson and Cyrus have been friends since 2015 but the two have only recently become a couple. They confirmed as much in early Oct. Cyrus was in a relationship with Liam Hemsworth for nearly 10 years, then in a relationship with Kaitlynn Carter.

“I’m very happy. We are very, very happy,” Simpson said of the relationship to People. “She’s creative. She’s very passionate about what she does, and I’m very similar in that sense. That’s why we get along so well.”

As for who’s worth more, Simpson’s numbers aren’t bad, but they don’t compare to Cyrus’s $160 million net worth. Between TV, movies, songs, and tours, Cyrus has been a top artist for more than 10 years.

Regardless of what Cyrus makes, Simpson’s doing OK in his own right.
