Wondering what the boys are doing while they’re on vacation? (Don’t worry, we are, too.) This year, they’re keeping it local, sharing a clip of their BTS summer package from South Korea. What, exactly is the BTS summer package? Why is this year different from last years? Here’s what we know about the boy band and their “extended period of rest and relaxation.”

BTS creates a summer package video almost every year

Even though BTS is on vacation, that doesn’t mean they can’t produce more content. Their summer package is coming up soon, and as one fan explained, it’s like a summer greeting from the K-pop group to their fanbase.

“It’s basically an annual release of BTS on vacation in summer while doing some photoshoot. [Kind of] like seasons greetings? Yeah, but during summer,” said one Twitter user. The group created summer packages before, showcasing locations like Saipan, Dubai, and Kota Kinabalu. However, this year’s summer package takes place in Korea.

This year, the boy band showed off their home country of South Korea

Past summer package videos took place in different countries, particular because of the boy band’s rigorous schedule and brief breaks from touring and recording music. Being that the group is on an “extended period of rest and relaxation,” this year’s summer package is set in Korea. During the trailer, fans see the boys sporting hues of black, tan, and white; even though Big Hit posted the trailer on August 15, 2019, it already earned over 2 million views.

Even though they’re on vacation, fans still catch a glimpse of the BTS on social media and particularly on V-Live, where some of the members host live streams.

Fans are excited about BTS’ vacation — the group’s first extended vacation since their debut

When Big Hit announced that BTS would be taking a vacation, the fans took the news surprisingly well. After years of touring, recording, and producing content, this would be the boy band’s first extended vacation since their debut. Some fans noticed that this would also be the first time Jungkook celebrated his birthday with his family since he was 13-years-old.

“They finally got the vacation that they deserve. Thank you so much BigHit for letting them rest. Enjoy your vacation babies. We’ll miss you,” said one Twitter user. Above all else, fans are asking for privacy for the boy band. When the news broke that Jimin attended a concert in Seoul, members of the army asked to give him space.

“We can talk about Jimin going to the concert but let’s not share the photos, let’s respect them in their private endeavors like we promised when Big Hit announced their temporary hiatus,” said one Twitter user. “It’s okay to suddenly see BTS while their on vacation as it is unavoidable and/or by chance, but what’s not okay is to take pictures/videos them or approach them while they’re at it. Let’s respect their privacy y’all.”

BTS returns to the stage later this year, performing live concerts in South Korea and Saudi Arabia.
