This Is Us fans won’t get to watch the season 5 finale in its usual time slot tonight, May 25. According to NBC’s schedule, The Voice Season 20 finale will air for two hours starting at 8 p.m. ET. Thus, taking the usual time slot set for This Is Us.
That said, fans won’t have to wait long for the new episode to drop. This Is Us Season 5 Episode 16, “The Adirondacks,” will be pushed back by an hour. So the grand finale will drop at 10 p.m. ET and end at 11 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, This Is Us fans can stream the season 5 finale on Hulu on Wednesday, May 26.
What is ‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Episode 16, ‘The Adirondacks’ about?
According to NBC, the This Is Us Season 5 finale will focus on the Pearson family as they gather for Madison (Caitlin Thompson) and Kevin’s (Justin Hartley) wedding. So naturally, many fans are expecting some major conversations in the new May 25 episode.
Meanwhile, Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall Pearson, revealed what to expect in This Is Us Season 5 Episode 16 in an interview with Hollywood Life. The actor confirmed there will “definitely” be a wedding. That said, Brown didn’t specify whether fans will watch Madison and Kevin get married or the flashback of Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) wedding.
Brown also revealed the This Is Us Season 5 finale will include another jump to the future. “There will be a visit to the future like we have visited before,” he said. “Our show has been known to jump into the future before, too.”
When is the ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 release date?
Whatever happens next, it seems the This Is Us Season 5 finale will leave fans on a cliffhanger. Still speaking with Hollywood Life, Brown suggested that the finale will “open up a whole other slew of questions.” He also hinted that fans will be shocked by the end of the episode.
“People are going to react to it in different ways,” Brown said. “Some people will be shocked, some people will be crushed, some people may be both, some may be delighted. We’ll see. There will be a myriad of reactions to what we have in store.”
Of course, this means there’s more to look forward to when This Is Us returns for season 6. So when will new episodes air on NBC? According to the network, This Is Us Season 6 will not receive a fall release date. Rather, the final season will receive a midseason premiere and drop in 2022.
“We know that saying goodbye to the Pearsons is going to be hard enough,” said Frances Berwick, Chairman of Entertainment Networks at NBCUniversal Television, per The Wrap. “So what we wanted to do is honor the fan and give them as close to an uninterrupted run as we could — which is only possible in midseason.”
While This Is Us Season 6 isn’t coming out for some time, at least the season 5 finale will give fans plenty to think about. So stay tuned.
