A summary of Juice WRLD’s career

Juice WRLD, a Chicago native, rose to fame following the release of his hit song, “Lucid Dreams.” He was just a teenager at the time, but his emotive fusion of rap and rock captivated young adults and older ones alike.

The song was initially released on SoundCloud in 2017. But it was re-released after Juice WRLD signed with Interscope Records in 2018. The song appeared on his debut studio album, Goodbye & Good Riddance (2018), which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, according to XXL.

The same year, Juice WRLD teamed up with Future and released the mixtape Wrld on Drugs. While it received many lukewarm reviews, it spanned one radio hit, “Fine China.” Juice WRLD also received some praise for his vocals and songwriting.

That wasn’t the only project he worked on, though. Juice WRLD also appeared on Travis Scott’s “NO BYSTANDERS” from his Grammy-nominated album, ASTROWORLD.

But 2019 saw him reach new levels of success. In March, Juice WRLD released his second album, Death Race for Love, which topped the Billboard chart. It includes the hit songs “Robbery” and “Hear Me Calling” and features appearances from Young Thug and rising artist Brent Faiyaz.

The success of his music helped Juice WRLD win Best New Artist at the Billboard Music Awards in May.

In June, he announced that he had already started working on a follow-up. In a message shared to Twitter, Juice WRLD wrote:

“Working on album so yeah, I’m in a good head space rn prolly the best headspace I been on in a minute..things are coming together not just music but life in general I’m beyond blessed..got a nice place to live, a caring beautiful gf, and stability. Thank God for all this”

According to The Fader, the project was slated to come out on Dec. 2, which was Juice WRLD’s birthday. But it got delayed. Though he had full intentions of releasing the album, tragedy struck before he got the chance.

Juice WRLD seemed to talk about his eventual death in a 2018 song called “Legends,” which was a tribute to his fallen friends, Lil Peep and XXXTentacion. The song features the lyrics, “What’s the 27 club? We ain’t making it past 21.”
