Lizzo has become one of the most inspirational celebrities today, from crushing stereotypes that criticize her physique to combating her struggles as a vegan with some of the most incredible recipes. TikTok has connected Lizzo with her fans in a way that has allowed us all to tap into her tips for veganism — and fans are here for it.

Here’s everything we know about the “Good as Hell” singer’s vegan diet, her official transition into veganism (and why!), and her close encounter with the food industry.

As a new vegan, Lizzo has embraced the lifestyle in such a ‘Lizzo way’ — with a lot of sass, humor, and incredible talent in the kitchen. In her many TikToks, she has introduced a myriad of great vegan alternatives that just may have you making the switch as well.

The options are endless, from her vegan Jamaican spicy beef patty and vegan spicy Mcchicken to her vegan protein shakes. But what’s Lizzo’s everyday vegan diet look like?

According to her “What I Eat in a Day: Tales from a fat Vegan” video on TikTok, she makes a vegan breakfast smoothie in the mornings, vegan salad for lunch, hummus with Cheetos alternative for snacking, and a truffle chickpea mushroom ball with quinoa and salad for dinner.

Lizzo’s favorite food is surprisingly simple, however.

In an interview with The Cut at a Caribbean restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, she praised plantains as her favorite. “Plantain is my favorite food in the f*cking world,” the artist gushed, adding the dish to the bill.

2020 wasn’t the singer’s first attempt at veganism

Lizzo’s vegan journey officially began in the summer of 2020 when she took to TikTok to announce her transition to a fully vegan diet. Just six months later, she celebrated on the platform with a TikTok video captioned, “🍃Happy 6 months Vegan to meee👩🏾‍🌾.”

This wasn’t her first attempt at veganism, though. According to Viva! The Vegan Charity, the “Truth Hurts” singer became a vegetarian in 2010 and remained one for another seven years. In 2017, she attempted to embrace a vegan lifestyle but was unsuccessful.

She re-committed to veganism in 2020 and has since been successful,.

The Vegan Queen conquered common struggles with incredible vegan adaptations like vegan soul food cupcakes, nature’s cereal, cheesy vegan enchiladas, all of her 100% plant-based holiday meals, and of course — her ASMR vegan southern-fried ‘chicken.’

You can watch her make all of these and more on her TikTok! They’re great for vegan inspiration.

According to an interview Lizzo had with Nasty Galaxy, the rapper has always had a love for food. A love that almost took her career in a different direction!

She told the publication, “I had the idea to be a food critic in Minneapolis,” when her singing career was in limbo.

“I was like, ‘You know what? Maybe, I’ll use Instagram as the platform. So I got the Instagram, @LizzoBeEating,” Lizzo continued. “I wrote three reviews, and then it never happened for me. But of course, it segued into my musical career, and now I’m just LizzoBeEating!”

Fortunately, she didn’t because Lizzo has done more than change our lives with her vegan recipes — she has embraced body positivity and crushed fat-shaming at every touchpoint.

What’s more, the vegan queen regularly praises both sides of the spectrum. In one of her TikToks, the artist said, “Honestly, I am both of these women. And I cannot condemn one woman or the other. I’m happy both ways — and right now, this is what’s bringing me joy.”
