Fans may not see Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader anymore, but there are still a few Star Wars productions in the works. That includes seriesā€™ exclusive to Disney+ and a few dates for movies to be released in cinemas. Hereā€™s what we know about whatā€™s next for this universe and Lucasfilm creations.Ā

Whatā€™s next for the ā€˜Star Warsā€™ universe?Ā

After years of waiting, fans finally discovered what was next for Han Solo, Leia Skywalker, and Luke Skywalker. Of course, that included a few new characters, like Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren, who starred in movies like The Rise of Skywalker and The Force Awakens.

However, fans havenā€™t seen the last of Lucasfilm-related movies and television shows. Thanks to a few updates from Disney, viewers learned that there are a few Star Wars projects currently in the works.Ā

Thereā€™s rumors of a trilogy created by Rian Johnson, the writer behind The Last Jedi. Thereā€™s a confirmed Disney+ series starring Ewan McGregor, the actor who portrays Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequel trilogy. Additionally, Taika Waititi is set to create his own Star Wars project.

When does the next ā€˜Star Warsā€™ movie premiere in theaters?

Even though the Skywalker Saga has come to an end, thereā€™s still plenty more space to explore in the Star Wars universe. Could there be other Jedis? What happens in between each movie in the original trilogy.Ā

According to CBR, ā€œLucasfilm currently has three release dates staked out for Star Wars films: December 16, 2022, December 20, 2024, and December 18, 2026, respectively.ā€ The article states that the Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) Star Wars film is the release scheduled for a 2024 premiere.

Reportedly, none of those will include characters from the original trilogy or the recently released sequel trilogy. That means fans have seen the last of General Organa, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, and the scavenger from Jakku, Rey.Ā

However, the next few Star Wars feature films are expected to premiere in cinemas. Thereā€™s original Star Wars content released periodically on Disneyā€™s streaming platform.Ā

During 2019, that was the first-ever Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian, which took place between the fall of the Empire and the rise of The First Order. The final season of The Clone Wars debuted in 2020, as did the second season of The Mandalorian.
