Everybody loves dinosaurs, and when Jurassic Park hit theaters in 1993, Steven Spielberg created a franchise for people who wanted to stare in awe at dinosaurs.

There were a few movie sequels, but they never really lived up to the original, and eventually, the franchise became a memory in everyone’s minds. That was until Jurassic World revived the franchise with its astounding success at the box office, and that success continued with its sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

But just like dinosaurs, this trilogy will come to an end too, as Jurassic World: Dominion is set to be the last movie in the trilogy. Here’s a look at when Jurassic World: Dominion is coming out, and what else is known about it.

The ‘Jurassic Park’ story so far

Like Digital Spy wrote, Jurassic World: Dominion is going to be dramatically different from the Jurassic Park movies that everyone has been familiar with. Thus far, the Jurassic Park movies have been fairly predictable in the sense that it’s always been about dinosaurs being kept in cages and then escaping to wreak havoc on the people at the park.

However, unlike the other Jurassic Park movies, at the end of the most recent one, the dinosaurs have been totally freed and now, they will roam around the wild, free to hunt and attack people and cities as they wish. There won’t be a war between humans and dinosaurs though, since the director, Colin Trevorrow, has said that the dinosaurs “can’t organize.”

Humanity will organize in ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ however

That being said, humans, or rather, the fan favorite characters from the rest of the Jurassic Park movies, will organize, according to Digital Spy. Many actors from the past movies will be returning to reprise their old roles, and they include Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and of course, Jeff Goldblum. While these three actors from the original Jurassic Park will definitely be returning, they may not be alone.

As Digital Spy said, Chris Pratt teased that “everyone would be returning.” It’s not clear how literal Pratt’s statement was, but plenty of the original cast has already returned, such as BD Wong’s Dr. Henry Wu.

Outside of these casting and story revelations, it’s not clear what will actually happen in Jurassic World: Dominion, and unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not find out soon.

‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ will premiere on June 10th, 2022

Originally, Jurassic World: Dominion was scheduled to be released on June 11th, 2021, but that was based on the fact that the movie was officially confirmed in February 2020.

And, as everyone knows, not long after, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and it caused Hollywood and practically everyone else to stop what they were doing and hunker down.

Jurassic World: Dominion was one of the many projects that were halted, but after adopting new safety procedures, Digital Spy reported that, in July 2020, Jurassic World: Dominion became the first blockbuster to resume production in the U.K. Filming finished by November 2020, and now, the movie is in post-production.

Since filming was delayed by many months, and since this movie will need quite a lot of CGI, the studio made the smart choice of delaying the movie’s release date by a year. The movie can be delayed again if the director or the studio wants to do a lot of reshoots, but this new release date of June 10th, 2022 seems solid for now.

As for when dinosaur fans can expect a trailer for the movie, Digital Spy estimated a December 2020 date for a first trailer. However, that didn’t happen, probably because of the production delay. As such, dino fans will probably have to wait until later in 2021 for a trailer to drop.
