Rafael Nadal is one of the biggest and most successful tennis players in the world whose name is frequently mentioned with the two other greats he competes against often, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. But even though the “King of Clay” is such a public and popular figure on the court not much is known about his personal life. However, a few details have recently been reported about his fiancée and their upcoming nuptials.

They’ve been together since they were teenagers

Maria Francisca “Xisca” Perelló was born on July 7, 1988, to parents Bernat Perelló and María Pascual.

The Spanish tennis star and Perello met in school and have been together since they were teenagers. They started dating in 2005 but the media didn’t learn about their relationship until 2008 when they were photographed at a beach together on their home island of Mallorca.

Perello has a degree in business and today works for the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy and is the Director of Strategy and Relations with Institutions for Nadal’s Foundation.

Over the years she’s been spotted cheering her beau on at plenty of his matches but the 31-year-old likes to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible and keeps their relationship private.

“I prefer not to say much,” Perello previously told The Telegraph. “The fact is that I just don’t feel comfortable talking about these things, even in private. It’s what works for me, and what works for Rafael and me as a couple. We wouldn’t have it any other way.”

When and where they’re getting married

In 2018, Nadal and Perello got engaged but that news didn’t break till 2019. After that, to the dismay of the couple, several details about their big day were leaked.

According to several reports, the tennis star and his soon-to-bride will say “I do” on Oct. 19, 2019, in Puerto Pollensa which is a town on the coast of Mallorca.

Nadal though has made it clear that he is going to remain tight-lipped about any other plans regarding their nuptials.

“I’m not saying anything, it’s already annoyed me that the wedding has come out in the press,” Nadal said via Marca.com. “I’m not saying anything.”

Athletes and celebs invited to their wedding

Their wedding will also reportedly be a star-studded affair.

Around 500 people are on the guestlist and there is no shortage of famous faces from the sports and entertainment world including NBA star Pau Gasol, singer Enrique Iglesias, Spanish football manager Julen Lopetegui, soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo, and fellow tennis players Fernando Verdasco, Feliciano Lopez, and Roger Federer.

Nadal also has a close relationship with the former king of Spain, Juan Carlos I, so there will be a few royals among the 500 guests in attendance as well.
