The hierarchy of the Real Housewives franchise is a complex social ladder coated in speculation, rumor, and plenty of shade. Primary cast members are, of course, inhabiting the most coveted role, but there are also the “friends of” the show who get some air time without the status and in-depth coverage of a full cast member.

Occasionally, these “friends” can make their way into full-time cast members, but the reverse is true as well, and several wives have been demoted to “friend of” status.

The Real Housewives of Dallas (RHOD) recently started its fifth season, and the cast shakeups have some wondering about Jennifer Davis Long, a “friend of” the show that gets an unusual amount of air time.

Jennifer Davis Long made her debut in ‘RHOD’ Season 5

Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Dallas has seen plenty of cast shakeups over its five seasons. Only two wives — Stephanie Hollman and Brandi Redmond — have managed to stay on the show for its entire run . . . so far.

The series has already seen some demotions as well. Tiffany Hendra started out as a cast member in Season 1 before returning as only a “guest” on subsequent seasons. Cary Deuber spent the first three seasons as a cast member before returning as a “friend” in Season 4.

Season 5 saw the controversial departure of LeeAnne Locken and left a vacancy in the lineup. Tiffany Moon, who previously appeared in Season 4 as a guest, has been promoted to cast member, but with the disappearance of friend Deuber and former guest Hendra, the cast still seemed a little light. This is where Jennifer Davis Long comes in as a new friend of the show.

Jennifer Davis Long is a Dallas real estate agent

Long is taking up some serious air time in Season 5, and fans are interested in knowing a little more about her. As her bio for Bill Griffin Real Estate shows, Long is a “sixth generation Texan” who is following in her family’s footsteps with a career in real estate. Her bio is full of glowing testimonials from happy clients who found her “hardworking and diligent” in the field.

What this professional glance doesn’t reveal is that Long seems to be a fascinating addition to the RHOD cast. Wasting no time at all in making a name for herself on the show, Long shared a conversation about vaginas with Brandi Redmond, and the pair even flashed each other to help illustrate their points. She also hinted at a big story that she would be sharing with fans over time.

Was Jennifer Davis Long supposed to be a cast member?

Some have speculated that Long’s “friend of” status is a new categorization and that Long was initially intended to be a full cast member. Evidence for this theory, as reported by iRealHousewives, is that Long appears more than a normal “friend of” would. The current rumor is that Long is going through a divorce and that her soon-to-be-ex-husband pulled back from filming, reducing her role on the show and thus causing her demotion.

Meaww reports on the divorce rumors as well. Back in mid-2020, Long directly addressed rumors that her marriage was failing by tackling them head on and denying the allegations: “We fell in love, we got married, we had a Camelot life. Then, tragedy struck. Many of you don’t know our story, but will soon. We weathered the storm, we fought for our daughter, we fought for us, and we fought for love. The water was rocky, but we didn’t jump ship.”

Notably, her husband has been absent from her social media posts for months, and the divorce rumors are certainly not slowing down.
