The queen

It’s obvious to anyone who has ever seen a photo of the monarch alongside other royals that Queen Elizabeth II is not the tallest member of her family. But she is taller than most people think.

Pop Sugar noted that royal family matriarch is 5 feet, 4 inches, which is the average height of an American woman and just two inches shy of the average height of a European woman. The reason she looks a bit shorter in photographs is because her family members, with the exception of her great-grandchildren, are taller than her.

Who’s the Oldest-Ever Member of the Royal Family? (Hint: It’s Not Prince Philip)

Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry are all taller than their wives. But can you guess who’s the tallest?

Prince Charles is the shortest. The Duke of Cornwall is 5 feet, 10 inches which is the same height as his first wife, the late Princess Diana. While married their height was such an issue that Diana had to wear flats instead of heels around her husband so she didn’t tower over the future king.

The queen’s husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, is 6 feet tall which is a bit shorter than his grandsons.

The Duke of Sussex and Duke of Cambridge are very close in size but if you pegged Prince Harry as the tallest you’re wrong. Harry stands at 6 foot 1 while his big brother is actually 6 feet, 3 inches making Prince William the tallest member of the royal family. Given the Duke of Cambridge’s height, as well as his wife’s, most fans are expecting Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to all be pretty tall when they grow up.
