King landed the role of Summer Newman in 2012, and has since won two Daytime Emmy Awards for her portrayal of the character. King’s character, Summer Newman, is the fictional daughter of Nicholas Newman and Phyllis Summers.

King made her debut on The Young and the Restless as a rebellious teenager. However, over the last 12 years, Summer has gone through tremendous character development.

Summer has had many memorable storylines over the years. Along with her paternity storyline, where it was believed for over a year on the show that she was actually the daughter of Jack Abbott and not Nick Newman, Summer has had quite a bit of relationship drama as well.

Like her parents, Summer is no stranger to the altar. This young character has already been married and divorced on The Young and the Restless twice. Her first marriage was to the character Austin Travers, who actually cheated on her before being murdered on the show.

Her second marriage was to Kyle Abbott, who ended up only marrying her, so she would donate her liver to his girlfriend. While King’s character on The Young and the Restless has experienced quite the relationship upheavals, King’s actual love life is a complete 180 from that of her character’s.

Landing a job on The Young and the Restless has been good not only for King’s acting career, but also for her offscreen love life.

King actually met her now-fiancé, Nico Svoboda, on the set of The Young and the Restless and sparks flew. Svoboda was working on the show as a cameraman at the time.

As the couple began their relationship, King told Soaps in Depth Magazine that it was a bit awkward when she had kissing scenes on the show that Svoboda had to help film.

The couple both worked through this awkwardness professionally, and both realized that it’s part of the job. However, the pair were happy not to have to continue to go through this when Svoboda was able to take a cameraman job on The Bold and the Beautiful. Both King and Svoboda felt that the job move was a win-win situation for both of them.

Building a life with Nico Svoboda

Since the young couple’s engagement in August 2018, they have been enjoying their time together and working on wedding planning. While the couple hasn’t settled on a date or venue yet, they are considering having a wedding in Europe.

Two locations that King loves are Amsterdam and Paris, but she isn’t quite sure if either of these locations is where she officially wants to tie the knot. Wedding planning can be very stressful, but King and Svoboda are trying to enjoy the process and each other’s company as they try to plan a beautiful destination wedding.

Ultimately, the young couple is just looking forward to building a life together that they can enjoy for years to come.
