For the people who watched a lot of TV shows during the late 90s and early 2000s, Whose Line Is It Anyway was one of the funniest shows on air.

The improv comedy show featured the dynamic trio of Wayne Brady, Ryan Stiles, and Colin Mochrie. They, along with a guest, would make up jokes and play games with one another, all at the direction of the host and the studio audience.

Drew Carey hosted the show in its first eight seasons, but after it got revived in 2013, Aisha Tyler became the new host. That said, despite the fact that she’s been hosting the show for eight seasons as well, some fans haven’t warmed up to her yet.

Based on a British show, the American version of Whose Line Is It Anyway? premiered in 1998, and it quickly found an audience in America. That said, despite being hilarious, the show was canceled years before it actually left the air. Throwbacks said that, in 2003, ABC canceled the show due to low ratings.

However, ABC had filmed so many episodes that the show continued airing up until 2007. After the show officially ended, fans kept the show alive by talking about it with one another both in-person and online.

This, in turn, created more fans of the show, and eventually, The CW felt like it was a good time to revive the show.

Aisha Tyler becomes the new host, but some fans don’t like her

In 2013, the show was officially revived with the trio of Brady, Stiles, and Mochrie all returning as part of the main cast. That said, Carey didn’t return to his role as host, and instead, he was replaced by Tyler. The show made a few other minor changes, but practically everything else was the same.

Currently, the show has been renewed for a 17th season, with Tyler returning as the host. This means that, when the 17th season is filmed and aired, she would’ve hosted the show for more seasons than Carey has. Despite the show being a continued success however, some fans aren’t enjoying her run as the host.

For example, on Reddit, before the show was officially renewed for a 17th season, a fan remarked that, “8 seasons of Aisha is 9 too many.”

While this comment wasn’t well-received by the community, other similar comments have sprung up since then.

After the show was officially renewed, a fan on Reddit said that, “She looks like she doesn’t even want to be there half the time.” Another fan had a more nostalgic take, as they said, “Please come back Drew Carrey, the show you needs you.”

While those were real opinions from real fans of the show, it’s definitely not accurate to say that their opinions are representative of the community. Like many shows from the past, the fans will always have a sense of nostalgia about them. This is true for everything that was on air, whether it’s Friends, The Jeffersons, or I Love Lucy

Unsurprisingly, the die-hard fans of the show, while they’re glad that Brady, Stiles, and Mochrie are all back and funnier than ever, are a bit sad that Carey isn’t back as the host. Other fans, of course, are enjoying the show as is, and they think that Tyler meshes well with the rest of the cast. As a result, the majority opinion of fans seems to be that she’s either an okay or a pretty good host.

Besides, it’s not a given that Carey would come back to host the show, anyway. Currently, he’s the host of The Price Is Right, which is a much more popular and prestigious show.
