Toward the end of March, the latest batch of Bridgerton episodes dropped on Netflix. Like the books, the show switches focus to another member of the Bridgerton family. Instead of Daphne, her brother is front and center of the story.

Fans have noticed changes in the second season, such as fewer sex scenes. The show also does not depict a wedding between the main love interests. Viewers see Kate and Anthony as spouses without having witnessed a ceremony.

What happens in season 2 of ‘Bridgerton’?

The second season of Bridgerton centers primarily around Anthony Bridgerton, and he aims for a loveless marriage. A flashback shows that he does not want to have his future wife despair if he dies prematurely. Nevertheless, Anthony ends up in a love triangle with Edwina and Kate.

Since the Queen dubbed Edwina the season’s diamond, Anthony chooses her as his potential wife. However, he becomes attracted to her sister, Kate, so fans wonder who he will marry. Meanwhile, the show explores side storylines with other characters.

Penelope has had feelings for Colin for a while, but he never felt the same way. In the second season, she overhears him telling his friends that he would never court her. The possibility of a relationship lowers, but things could change in subsequent seasons.

Meanwhile, Penelope’s friendship with Eloise becomes rocky in the finale. The latter discovers that she is Lady Whistledown, and they stop talking to each other. After all, Penelope writes a gossip piece about Eloise, which lowers her and her family’s reputation.

Kate and Anthony do not have an on-screen wedding

At first, it seems as if Anthony will go through with his loveless marriage to Edwina. However, Edwina notices Anthony’s feelings toward Kate when he picks up Kate’s bracelet. Six months after the events of the season, Anthony and Kate are already married.

Fans who wanted to see Anthony and Kate end up together got the payoff they hoped for. Yet, the series skipped over the couple’s wedding and jumped to the end of the honeymoon. Insider reports that director Cheryl Dunye explained there was no time for two weddings.

“Two weddings in a show that were that spectacular, one could not do after the other,” the director stated, “I was just like, ‘Yeah, you’re going to make the other wedding look paltry if this wedding was bigger.'”

Dunye only directed the last two episodes of season 2, and she had no control over the narrative choices. Fans at least can feel satisfied that Anthony got together with someone he deeply cares for. They cannot wait to see what weddings await them in the future.

The second season of Bridgerton already has a wedding, but it is between Anthony and Edwina. The show depicts the preparations the characters make leading up to the ceremony. The queen even sponsors and oversees the event to make it a grand occasion.

During the preparations, Edwina begins to suspect that her fiancé does not love her. Fans noticed a few Indian traditions before and during the wedding. Edwina and her family perform in a pre-wedding tradition known as the Haldi ceremony. Additionally, her marriage ceremony includes traditional Indian jewelry.

Kate provides Edwina with their mother’s bangles that symbolize the husband’s lasting life. However, Edwina tells Kate to wear them instead. The Indian bride and groom hold pinkies during the momentous event.

Yet, fans see Anthony almost touching Kate’s pinky when he walks by her. Of course, the wedding fails when Edwina runs away from the altar with a broken heart.
