Why Did Kim Kardashian West and Reggie Bush Break Up?
Before finding love with Kanye West, Kim Kardashian West dated her fair share of famous men, including NFL player Reggie Bush. The pair struck up a romance in their mid-2000s and had many people convinced that they would one day tie the knot and live happily ever after.
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and the pair split after dating for just a few short years. Though they ended up finding love with other people after going their separate ways, we wonder: Why did this seemingly perfect couple break up in the first place?
Kim Kardashian West and Reggie Bush dated for three years
Kardashian and Bush’s love story began in 2007 when they met at that year’s ESPY Awards after being introduced by a mutual friend. Soon after that encounter, the pair started dating and even began showcasing their budding romance on Kardashian’s hit E! series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
With Kardashian being one of the most popular socialites in the industry and Bush being a star running back of the New Orleans Saints, the pair soon became one of the hottest couples in Hollywood. To fans, they appeared to be a match made in heaven.
However, as the pair’s fame grew, finding time to spend together became a challenge, and because of this, their relationship paid the price.
Kardashian and Bush’s conflicting schedules was an ongoing issue in their relationship
After dating for two years, Kardashian and Bush briefly broke up in 2009. At the time, sources revealed that the pair were focused on their respective careers and decided that it would best to spend some time as free agents.
“They love each other a lot and hope someday they can make it work,” an insider told E! News. “But for now, he starts his football season this week and Kim starts filming season four of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and they just need this time apart.”
Eventually, the couple reconciled, but in 2010, they called it quits for good.
While it remains unclear why exactly Bush and Kardashian broke up, it’s been reported that the pair’s busy schedules played a significant part in their split. It was alleged that dealing with Kardashian’s growing fame just became too much for Bush to handle.
“She travels the world and has created brands,” a source told Us Weekly at the time of their split. “He just can’t keep up.”
Both Kardashian West and Bush are now married with children
After calling it quits, both Kardashian and Bush moved on with other people.
In 2014, Kardashian married rapper Kanye West. Today, they’re still happily married and have four adorable children together: North (7), Saint (4 1/2), Chicago (2 1/2), and Psalm (1)
As for Bush, he also got married in 2014 to dancer Lilit Avagyan and together, they have three children: Briseis (7), Uriah (5), and Agyemang (3).
Are Bush and Kardashian still in contact?
Though Bush and Kardashian briefly reconnected in 2012 before striking up relationships with their significant others, the retired football pro told Us Weekly in 2018 that he and the reality star ‘don’t keep in touch’ anymore.
But despite no longer being in contact with his former flame, Bush still had nice things to say about the KKW Beauty mogul.
“She’s doing a great job creating a brand for herself, her and her family,” he told the outlet. “I’m happy for ’em… She’s very smart.”
While Kardashian West has not spoken much on her ex in recent years, there’s a good chance she would also have sweet things to say about him and their relationship.
