Actor Tom Holland has been the talk of the internet after debuting a new haircut that showcases his shaved head. He unveiled the new look while appearing with Jake Gyllenhaal at ACE Comic-Con.

Since his new haircut is drastic for some, many people are speculating that Holland’s look is because of a new film project. So, did Tom Holland cut his hair because of a new movie?

Tom Holland’s new haircut shocks fans

Some fans seem to be on the fence whether or not they are here for the Spider-Man: Far From Home star’s new look. They are taken aback with footage first surfaced on Instagram with the haircut. Most are used to his signature locks.

One fan tweeted, “call me crazy but tom holland’s haircut is seriously growing on me and maybe? i prefer it? or at least it’s equally as attractive.”

Another fan vehemently defended the cut, saying, “To everyone who’s shook over Tom Holland haircut… ya’ll need to chill. He’s an actor, they’re required to change their looks to fit specific roles. Let the boy work! Ya’ll really that vain?!”

Someone tweeted a less than stellar reaction to the haircut: “i feel like Tom Holland is proof that a haircut can make or break you…”

What Tom Holland says about his new haircut

Holland has been relatively coy about his haircut on social media. It’s been a while since he first appeared in public with it, but he has yet to post on Instagram about it.

One of the first photographs of Holland with the haircut was posted by Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Kiernan Shipka in an ACE Comic-Con recap on her Instagram page.

At the event, Holland actually spoke about his appearance. Referencing the haircut, he said, “I really like it. I don’t know about you, but I really, really like it. It’s so much easier to manage.”

Tom Holland has a movie coming out soon

Tom Holland has a new film that should go into production soon and it seems to be the real reason behind why he shaved his head.

He is teaming back up with Avengers: Endgame directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo on the movie Cherry. This film will be the very first non-Marvel feature film that the brothers will direct. According to Variety, Cherry will chronicle the story of Nico Walker, “a former Army medic who returned from Iraq with extreme undiagnosed PTSD, fell into opioid addiction and began robbing banks.” The film is based on his book of the same name.

Walker, the subject of the film and the author of the book, was convicted in 2011 and is set to be released in 2020. When the project was first announced in March, it was said to film this summer.

Holland spoke about the project at ACE Comic-Con. “The book is amazing, the script is even better. I couldn’t wait to dive into it and sort of give it everything I’ve got. And it’s so different for me. I mean, I shaved my head!” he said.

Sooner or later, we’ll be able to see how Holland’s shaved head looks on the big screen when Cherry hits theaters.
