Why Didn’t Priyanka Chopra Think Her Relationship With Nick Jonas Would Last?

It’s been four months since Priyanka Chopra married fellow Jonas Brother Nick Jonas in during lavish ceremonies held in India.

Since tying the knot, Priyanka and Nick have been enjoying every second of marital bliss with exotic vacations around the world, red carpet appearances and even giving each other expensive gifts.

Though these celebrities are perfect for each other, there was a time Priyanka Chopra had doubts about whether her relationship with Nick would last.

Priyanka Chopra never expected to marry Nick Jonas

To fans around the world, it seems as though Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra were made for each other.

Ever since speculations surrounding their relationship started to arise in 2017 when they walked the Met Gala red carpet together, many of us knew this relationship was bound to last.

However, Priyanka Chopra didn’t think like that at first.

While speaking at the Women in the World Summit earlier this month, the actress revealed that she was a bit skeptical about her and Jonas’ relationship lasting.

“I didn’t think this would be what it turned out to be, and that’s maybe my fault. I judged a book by its cover. But I think when I started actually dating Nick he surprised me so much,” Chopra shared.

Priyanka eventually fell hard for Nick

It wasn’t until Priyanka Chopra went on a group date with Nick Jonas when she started to realize that he was the right man for her.

“One of the first things that I think struck me about him is we were on a date, and it was time to leave…we were with a bunch of friends and I had a meeting,” she explained. “I was like dropping things to my friends and they’re like, ‘No, don’t go to the meeting, just stay,’ and I’m like, ‘No, if someone gives me a reason enough to cancel, I’ll cancel it,’ and he just didn’t pick up the hint.”

Well, it turns out, the musician did pick up the hint and ended up surprising his now wife with his response.

As Priyanka Chopra was getting ready to leave the group date, Nick Jonas pulled her aside and said, “Look, I’m not stupid. I know what you’re trying to do, but I could never be the one to tell you to cancel work because I know how hard you’ve worked to be where you are, so if you could’ve canceled it, you would’ve done it. I’ll take our friends out to dinner and we’ll wait for you, finish your meeting and come back.”

That alone was enough for Priyanka Chopra to know this was the man she was bound to marry and shared that having someone she hardly knew be so supportive of her career meant a lot to her.

The rest is history

Following that particular encounter, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas went on to date for a year and a half before getting engaged.

In December 2018, Chopra and Jonas married each other in two elaborate ceremonies over the course of three days in Jodhpur, India.

Now, every time they are spotted together, Priyanka and Nick just look even more in love than when they tied the knot.

To think, Priyanka Chopra almost let her reservations stop from marrying the man she has always considered her best friend.
