Hannah Brown reportedly turned down ‘The Bachelorette’ due to money

On Feb. 28, E! News reported that Brown turned down appearing on The Bachelorette again because she was not offered enough money.

“Sources tell E! News that the beloved star of last season, who ended up with a broken engagement and a bright future, turned down a return to the driver’s seat for season 16 of The Bachelorette when the pay wasn’t enough for her,” reads the article.

Blogger Reality Steve also reported that Brown was in negotiations with ABC, but the two parties could not agree on money.

“Did they want Hannah Brown? Absolutely. She was their top choice but they couldn’t agree on money apparently and she’s out unless something drastic happens. That’s the latest I have on ‘Bachelorette,'” he wrote on his blog.

Another reason Hannah Brown turned down ‘The Bachelorette’

On March 2, Us Weekly reported that there was another reason Brown turned down starring on The Bachelorette again. According to Us Weekly, appearing on the show did not make sense career-wise for Brown.

“‘ABC was after Hannah to be the Bachelorette again, asking her for months,’ a source tells Us Weekly exclusively. ‘They really wanted her to do it but, obviously, it didn’t ultimately work out,'” reads the Us Weekly article.

According to Us Weekly, Brown was approached by ABC to appear on the show again in December 2019. Unlike what was originally reported, this source told Us Weekly that money was not the only factor in Brown turning down the role.

“‘It wasn’t just about the money. There were specific things about the contract too,’ the source said. ‘Hannah had the biggest season and was hugely popular and so it made sense for them to ask her. She loves Bachelor Nation and she never wants to disappoint them, but it just didn’t make sense for her. She’s moving forward with her life and career,'” reads the article.

She will be on the ‘Dancing With the Stars: Live! 2020’ tour

After her season of The Bachelorette, Brown joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars. She ended up winning the entire season with her dance partner Alan Bersten. Before fans even knew Brown was in negotiations to be on The Bachelorette again, it became clear that Brown would be unable to film the reality show.

In January 2019, Brown performed at Radio City Music Hall with the cast of Dancing With the Stars. A few weeks later, it was announced Brown joined the Dancing With the Stars: Live! 2020 tour for six more show dates. All of the future shows Brown joined occur in March, making it impossible for her to film for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.
