When we think of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge we don’t exactly think of her as making another person cry but that’s exactly what happened earlier this month.

So who did Kate make cry? Another royal? One of her staffers? Read on to find out who she made burst into tears and why.

This is who Kate had in tears and why

On Jan. 15, Kate and Prince William visited the city of Bradford, which is located in West Yorkshire, England. It was there that the duchess actually made a fan burst into tears.

The Sun noted that Kate greeted a number of supporters and schoolchildren gathered outside Bradford City Hall to catch a glimpse of the duke and duchess. William’s wife stopped to hug and young fan named Josh and when she did that a female with him began sobbing.

According to The Express, the woman who was standing out in the cold with Josh is his mother, Sue. Kate chatted with them for a few moments and told Josh that her son, Prince George, “would love your coat, he loves camouflage.”

The duchess closed out their conversation telling them “lovely to meet you” before she moved down the line to greet more people in the crowd.

This was the duke and duchess’ first engagement since Megxit

This engagement for the couple was significant as it was their first of the new year. The trip was aimed at promoting cohesion in the diverse city.

While in Bradford the Cambridges joined in community workshops and visited My Lahore’s restaurant where they helped make Kulfi and spoke to representatives of the U.K. Women’s Muslim Council. The pair met with boxer and Bradford local Amir Khan as well.

This was also their first engagement since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their decision to step away from royal life.

On Jan. 8, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram with the bombshell news that they were “stepping back as senior royals” and be spending time in North America. William and Kate did not answer any questions about the prince and retired actress. but since the announcement many have wondered just who is going to pick up some of the work and duties they had previously done.

The young royal who may take over for Meghan and Harry

So far, Queen Elizabeth’s youngest son, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex have taken on some duties in place of Harry and Meghan. No permanent replacement has been named yet However, it is believed that in the future Edward and Sophie’s daughter, Lady Louise, could step in.

Louise is 16 years old. She the youngest of Her Majesty’s grandchildren but is deemed as ready to help with some royal duties as she has already accompanied her parents to a few.
