When Tyler Cameron was introduced to Bachelor Nation he was introduced as the dancing contractor. But while building houses was Cameron’s first love, modeling is a more recent passion.

Tyler Cameron on his two passions: modeling and construction

In an interview with the Bachelor Party podcast in September 2019, Cameron said the plan was always to move to New York after competing on The Bachelorette to concentrate on his modeling career.

“I was gonna move up here, whatever happened with the show. Because houses are always gonna be built, renovated, there’s always gonna be opportunities there. But there’s a shelf life to modeling and these opportunities so I’m trying to run with it and see what it has to offer, and I got some really cool things that are coming with modeling,” he said.

But it seems the reality star has always planned to return to construction eventually. In the same interview, he also said he wanted to start “applying for my general contractor’s license and starting my own company and get rolling with that in Florida.”

When the reality star did an Instagram Q&A in November 2019, he said he was “Finally applying for my license!” and that “the goal is to get back to building houses in Florida. Hopefully start one in the new year.”

But now that some time has gone by, Cameron’s had a taste of the modeling world, a taste of Instagram fame, a taste of being a Bachelor celebrity, he wants to get back to his construction roots sooner rather than later.

Tyler Cameron’s latest career venture

“There’s a lot of things I want to get going in my life as well, some businesses I want to start,” he told Entertainment Tonight on May 11. “I want to get my construction company running and all that. That’s important to me.”

“Having followers and all this stuff if great and all, but I want something that’s long-lasting and I can have forever and that’s what I hope to see in a construction company, so my goal is to get that going and hopefully [it becomes] something I can have for my kids one day,” he continued.

Luckily for Cameron, he found something that combines his passions. He’s in a new show, Barkitecture, on Quibi, where he and co-host Delia Kenza construct luxurious, larger-than-life dog houses. Episodes will include appearances from Joel McHale, Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle Richards, and Rumer Willis, among others.

“I’m a big dog lover and my background is construction, so when this opportunity came [along, I said], ‘I want to be a part of this opportunity any way I can.’ And it just worked out,” Cameron said. “I’m so excited to share it with you guys. It’s just so much fun, and it’s just a fun, cute show and for all dog lovers out there.”
