Will Fans See Kali Prasad Return in ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5?
Stranger Things 4 only premiered two weeks ago, and viewers are already on track to land it in the top three most-watched shows of all time. The Netflix original took the world by storm after an almost-three year hiatus. While the show’s creators, Ross and Matt Duffer, promised this season would give fans answers to some long-standing questions, it still raised a few new questions for fans to ponder. One of those questions revolves around a character from the lowest-rated episode of the series, “The Lost Sister,” Kali Prasad. Does Kali have a possible connection to Stranger Things 4 villain Vecna?
What is the role of Kali Prasad in ‘Stranger Things’?
Stranger Things Season 2 introduced fans to Kali Prasad in “The Lost Sister.” The episode took Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) away from Hawkins, Indiana, searching for her mother, Terry Ives. When Eleven found Terry in a vegetative state, she told her aunt, Becky, about the girl she often saw in her visions from Hawkins National Lab. After learning the girl’s name, Eleven sets off to find Kali in hopes of reuniting with her.
Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) raised Kali Prasad in the lab alongside Eleven. Kali’s wrist is tattooed with the number 008, and Eleven recalls spending time with her in the lab. She escaped from the lab and spent her life seeking revenge on those who experimented on her in the lab. Kali’s supernatural abilities in Stranger Things allow her to manipulate what others see. We see her use them to evade the cops by forcing him to see a bridge collapsing on the roadway. She also forced her cohort, Axel, to envision spiders crawling all over his hand after he threatened her.
Is Kali Prasad coming back?
Many viewers failed to connect with Kali in “The Lost Sister.” The episode still ranks as Stranger Things’ lowest-rated episode on IMDb. Several people complained that the episode halted the progression of the rest of the story and created a bottleneck with most viewers wanting to return to the action in Hawkins.
Stranger Things 4 villain Vecna showed up to terrorize our favorite kids in 1986. We later learn he’s been around longer than most people know. Vecna also manipulates his victims’ by forcing them inside a Mind Scape. His targets see terrifying visions of moments in their life that haunt them. Vecna mangles their bones and causes their eyeballs to explode. However, one of Vecna’s calling cards is Black Widows.
If fans rewatch the episode with Kali, they’ll notice that the spiders she causes Axel to see are almost identical to those seen crawling around in Stranger Things 4. Could those spiders tease Kali’s return?
Peter Ballard/Henry Creel’s powers differ from the other children in the lab
Stranger Things 4 gave us quite a bit of insight into the happenings in Hawkins National Lab and the other children living there. In one scene, Dr. Brenner forces the children to test their powers on one another. Oddly enough, all of the children appeared to have the same supernatural ability – telekinesis.
So far, Peter/Henry and Kali are the only two children with a different ability from the other children in the lab. This seems odd in itself. Plus, it possibly lends more to the theory that Kali and Peter/Henry are somehow connected.
Hopefully, Stranger Things 4 Volume II reveals the answer. The final two episodes drop on July 1, 2022.
