Will Kris Jenner Ever Change Her Name Back to Kardashian?
There is no secret that the Kardashian name holds a lot of power in the entertainment industry. This famous last name is one that people all around the world are familiar with since it belongs to reality television’s first family.
The Kardashians probably wouldn’t be where they are today if if wasn’t for their last name and Kris Jenner is definitely to thank for that.
While it’s been close to 30 years since Jenner was known as a Kardashian, we can’t help but wonder if she’s ever considered reclaiming her late ex-husband’s last name?
Jenner once considered changing her name back to Kardashian
Kris Jenner has made an entire empire out of her family’s last name and because of this, she actually considered becoming a Kardashian once again.
After divorcing Robert Kardashian in 1991, the momager took on her second husband’s, Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner), last name.
The Kardashian family matriarch continues to maintain the last name Jenner even though she divorced the former Olympian back in 2014.
Although Jenner has never really been known as Kris Kardashian, there was a time when she considered reverting her name back to that of her late husband’s.
Back in 2016, Jenner surprisingly revealed to Khloé Kardashian that she was going to change her name back to Kardashian.
In a deleted scene from Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Jenner drops this major revelation after the Good American designer asks her who she calls to get reservations at their favorite Mexican restaurant.
“I call the manager usually and I say, ‘Hey! It’s Kris Kardashian,'” the momager said.
“Your name isn’t Kris Kardashian,” the reality star tells her mother, who replies with, “I’m going to change my name back to Kardashian.”
“Why? You haven’t been that in over 24 years,” KoKo snaps back.
“I was that before you were that,” Jenner explains. “I was the original Kardashian.”
Kardashian then suggests that Jenner go back to her maiden name (Houghton) but the momager explained that it just doesn’t sound right.
“Keep Kris Jenner,” Kardashian insists. “Don’t you think that’s insulting to your two daughters?”
“If Bruce can change his name to Caitlyn, I think I’m good,” Jenner shot back.
She ultimately decided against it
Although Jenner was adamant on changing her last name back to Kardashian, the family matriarch eventually decided against it.
During a 2016 interview on the Australian radio show Kyle & Jackie O, Jenner explained why changing her last name was no longer of interest to her.
“It happens to be two younger girls who have an amazing dad, and yeah, I think I’m just going stay right where I am,” she said.”It sounded like a good idea for a minute, but then you have to just respect the relationship of the entire family. I’m too busy these days to worry about what my last name is!”
As for whether or not Jenner’s mindset has changed over the last few years, it seems as though she still feels as she did before.
Despite the ongoing issues she’s had with Caitlynn Jenner since their divorce, the momager has gotten used to her last name and doesn’t really see a point in changing it now.
