Willow Smith announced she wouldn’t open Billie Eilish’s ‘Happier Than Ever’ tour hours before the show

On Feb. 8, Smith announced on Twitter that she would no longer be opening for Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas on the first leg of her Happier Than Ever tour.

“Due to production limitations, I am unable to put on the show that I believe you all deserve,” Smith wrote. “Stay Safe, I love you all and I will see you soon!” Her announcement came just hours before she was supposed to open her first show for Eilish in Washington, D.C.

Smith was scheduled to open for Eilish at 11 shows of the “Ocean Eyes” singer’s tour in North America. The Red Table Talk star’s stint was supposed to include back-to-back concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

It’s unclear whether Smith intends to join Eilish’s tour later if production issues are resolved or if she has canceled all of her performances.

Several outlets reported that Willow Smith unfollowed Billie Eilish on social media after dropping out of the Happier Than Ever tour.

An Instagram account with the handle @billiesfbi shared screenshots showing that Smith followed Eilish on the platform before making her announcement but no longer followed the “Bad Guy” singer after posting the cancellation tweet.

The move led fans to speculate that some personal drama caused Smith to cancel her opening act, or perhaps the two stars had a disagreement after the I Am Legend actor announced her cancellation.

Fans are not impressed by the ‘emo girl’ singer dropping out of the shows at the last minute

A lot of fans pointed out that Smith citing “production limitations” is a flimsy excuse. “Idk what that even means but, it sounds like she’s saying ‘There won’t be smoke and lasers, so I can’t perform.’ 😂🤣” one fan said on Twitter, while another fan tweeted, “Girl you’re an opener. all u need is a guitar sound system and a mic tf.”

Many fans are expressing disappointment at Smith’s cancellation after the time, money, and effort they took to see her perform. “I went to one of the shows where she was supposed to perform, the atlanta one and i live in florida so i drove 10 hrs just to see willow only to hear from the crowd that she had been replaced,” one fan tweeted. “I was so disappointed and sad you dont even understand.”

Several fans called Smith “bratty” in the comments and tweeted messages about her upbringing like, “This is what happens when you have rich and famous parents and u didn’t really work for what you have.”
