The 2022 Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase finally premiered on Sunday, June 12, as part of this year’s Summer Game Fest. Viewers caught a glimpse at dozens of upcoming Xbox projects in 2022 and beyond, including new game announcements and updates on previously-announced titles. Here are the biggest reveals from the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase 2022.

‘Redfall’ gameplay trailer

Xbox and Bethesda started the showcase with an in-depth look at Redfall, a new first-person shooter game. The trailer featured a character with a pink shotgun as she explored a church filled with vampires. Apparently, the titular Massachusetts town of Redfall “once looked like it was straight out of a postcard.” But now, “everyone’s either a vampire, a cultist trying to become a vampire, or dead.”

Redfall’s trailer also offered a glimpse at its different weapons, skills, and characters — a sniper and a robotic engineer, to name a few. Players can take on the town of Redfall solo or in co-op mode.

Redfall arrives on Xbox consoles, PC, and Cloud in 2023. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can access the title on launch day.

‘Forza Motorsport’ gameplay trailer

The newest Forza game is on its way, and fans received an extensive look during the showcase. Forza Motorsport, first announced back in 2020, goes back to the franchise’s days of track racing, but with new and improved graphics. In addition to a trailer, the Xbox & Bethesda showcase included a breakdown of Forza Motorsport’s stunning look, complete with ray tracing and realistic scenery.

Forza Motorsport boasts extra realistic gameplay, so every scratch a car receives on the track will matter. However, the game also comes with a new feature: stations for tire and fuel management.

Forza Motorsport launches next spring on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

‘Overwatch 2’ Early Access date

The highly-anticipated Overwatch sequel finally has a release date — at least in Early Access. Activision Blizzard shared a new trailer for Overwatch 2 during the showcase, featuring cinematics and gameplay footage. In a big change from the original game, Overwatch 2 will become free-to-play.

Overwatch 2 enters Early Access on Oct. 4, 2022. In addition to Xbox consoles, the game will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

‘Minecraft Legends’ announcement

Another Minecraft spinoff is on its way. The Xbox & Bethesda Showcase 2022 revealed Minecraft Legends, which takes more of a real-time strategy approach than Minecraft’s typical open-world sandbox style. As seen in the trailer, players will have to create a “united overworld.”

Minecraft Legends launches on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Game Pass in 2023.

‘Starfield’ gameplay trailer

As always, Xbox saved the best for last. The showcase ended with an extensive gameplay trailer for Starfield, Bethesda’s most-anticipated game. Fans received a pretty good idea of what to expect from the science-fiction RPG — the trailer had footage of shooting, lockpicking, character creation, and more.

Additionally, the trailer showed some of Starfield’s locations, including the planet of Kreet and the city of New Atlantis. In all, Starfield will have more than 1,000 explorable planets.

Starfield launches on Xbox consoles, PC, and Cloud in 2023. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
