With the series renewed for a season 4, many fans wonder if Marienne will return. Well, the You star weighs in on the possibility.

In You Season 3, Marienne leaves Madre Linda with her daughter, hoping to start a new life. After Joe kills Love (Victoria Pedretti), he goes to France to find Marienne and win her back. Earlier in the season, Marienne told Joe about her desire to visit Paris, and if given a chance, would go back with her daughter, Juliette.

In an exclusive interview with Marie Claire, actor Tati Gabrielle talked about her character’s future in the You series. Even though Gabrielle remained tight-lipped about her involvement in You Season 4, she hopes Marienne will be the one to stop Joe once and for all.

“I just want her to find the peace she’s been seeking; be able to do art and let her kid have the most free and lovely life,” the actor explained. “I feel like she would be an art teacher or a commissioned artist. I do very secretly want her, if she does come back, to be the one to foil Joe.”

In season 3, Love impersonates Joe and calls Marienne to their house. Before Love could kill her, she exposed Joe and his violent tendencies. Now that Marienne knows the real Joe, many fans wonder if they have a future together. While actor Tati Gabrielle acknowledged the two shared a genuine connection, she doesn’t think the couple will have a happy ending.

When asked about a future romance, she said, “I don’t think she would go back [to him]. I think she would be able to, at that point, have the confidence, respect of self, and foresight to be able to know [not to]. I feel she’d be like, ‘I love you, I wish this worked out differently. But, you are a psychopath, and you are not good for me or my child or even this world.’”

Gabrielle went on to say that she believed Marienne loved Joe. “I do think her feelings were real,” she told the outlet. “She is attracted to toxic situations and toxic men, but that doesn’t negate the feelings she carries; it just means those feelings are toxic. And despite what Love told her, I don’t think it’s that easy to fall out of love with someone. So I think she still carries those feelings, even when she left [Madre Linda].”

When is ‘You’ Season 4 premiering on Netflix?

Ahead of the You Season 3 premiere, the thriller series was renewed for a fourth season. Since it took two years to film the third season, it is safe to say that You Season 4 might premiere next year. According to Decider, film production for You Season 3 was delayed because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Netflix renewed the series for a third season in January 2020. Film production was scheduled to start in February of that year. But, the pandemic didn’t allow filming to resume until November 2020. If there are no delays, fans should expect You Season 4 to premiere on the streaming platform in late 2022.
