Most people affectionately refer to Dwayne Johnson as “The Rock.” He is a world-famous actor best known for his starring roles in The Fast & Furious franchise, San Andreasand Hercules

He has a huge fan base that includes 82 million Instagram followers and 11 million Twitter followers.

Johnson is at the top of this game with several movies in production. He is also at the top of Forbes 2019 list of the world’s ten highest-paid actors, earning $89.4 million.

Johnson just finished filming the HBO series, Ballers, where he was making $700,000 per episode. He will reprise his role as Dr. Smolder Bravestone in the upcoming sequel Jumanji: The Next Level, receiving his highest upfront salary ever of $23.5 million.

Along with his lucrative acting career, he is a former pro-wrestler and spokesman for Under Armour.

Why his stunt double is so special to him

It’s got to be hard to fill the shoes of a 6’5″, 260-pound bodybuilder who has arms the size of an average man’s thighs. Somehow, Tanoai Reed, has been able to successfully meet this challenge.

He has been The Rock’s stunt double for the past 17 years. Scorpion King was the first movie they worked on together. Also of Samoan descent, Reed works hard every day to meet the physical demands of this role. He follows a strict diet and exercise regime that mirrors Johnson’s routine.

Reed and The Rock are actually cousins, making their bond that much stronger. Johnson posted to Instagram how he feels about Reed’s commitment to the film industry:

“Over the course of my career, my stunt double (and cousin) Tanoai Reed has broken multiple bones, severed tendons, torn ligaments & just been an overall dominating bad ass.”

Sounds like the two of these guys really do have a lot in common. Not only do they have look-alike bodies, but it appears they share the same work ethic.

The awesome gift

Reed returned to work after recovering from an on-screen injury. Johnson was ready for his return, telling him they were going to be filming a behind-the-scenes interview.

As cameras started rolling, The Rock surprised Reed with the keys to a brand-new custom Ford F-150 pickup truck. It was an emotional moment for the two of them. Johnson later posted the video to Instagram stating:

“SURPRISE! I love handing over keys. I love you brother and enjoy your new truck!”

The sweet ride is a black monochrome Ford F-150 short cab with a nice lift kit and beefed up tires. Reed, who was obviously overwhelmed by the kind gesture, is going to look good riding around town.

‘Dwanta Claus’

Meanwhile, Johnson has taken on a persona that he likes to refer to as “Dwanta Claus.” He loves taking care of people of all genders, races, and ages. He likes tequila instead of egg nog and is a little bit naughty and a little bit nice.

This isn’t the first time Johnson gifted someone with a truck. Several years ago, he gave his beloved housekeeper a Ford Edge to thank her for her years of service.

It seems “Dwanta Claus” likes putting vehicles in his giant bag of gifts. Wonder who will be next?

Reed definitely has the respect and friendship of The Rock. On Instagram, Johnson finished by saying, “Love you uso [brother] and thank you for the blood, sweat, tears and years. We’re just getting started.”
