When you think of a billionaire’s lifestyle, you probably imagine life on a yacht, or in a private jet. You might imagine impromptu trips, lavish dining experiences, and a closet filled with the world’s most coveted designer pieces. That’s probably not too far off the mark, but even the most wealthy and powerful men and women in the world have to run the odd errand or two. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, apparently, isn’t above doing his own chores, despite his eye-watering net worth. He and his wife, Priscilla Chan, were recently spotted hitting up Costco, and the world is amazed by the trip.

Imagine you are walking through the hallowed aisles of your favorite bulk warehouse. You are gazing at the displays of 24-pack toilet paper and giant tins of chocolate and muffins. Perhaps, in a moment of curiosity, you decide to take a spin past the electronics. As you navigate your oversized cart into the aisle of bright TV displays, you come face to face with a billionaire. Sure, it seems like an unlikely scenario, but that’s precisely what happened in Mountain View, California, this week.

According to TMZ, Zuckerberg and his wife, Chan, were spotted in Costco in Mountain View, shopping for television displays. While the spy photos show Zuckerberg checking out a few televisions, his wife is spotted wielding an oversized cart. The images make it a bit difficult to tell, but it doesn’t seem like the famed couple have anything else added to their cart, at least not yet. There is no word on what Zuckerberg and Chan ultimately purchased at the famed bulk warehouse.

This particular Costco, nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, offers all of the traditional Costco finds, like cheap rotisserie chickens, but it also has a few special items for sale. A Google user captured a photo of some pricy wine on display in the store. The September 2019 photo showed off a four-pack of Bordeaux priced at $4800.

What is Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth?

Zuckerberg’s trip to Costco is shocking because of the sheer amount of money he has access to. According to The Street, Zuckerberg was worth a staggering $76 billion as of July 2019. Despite a lot of negative press, Facebook’s stock has continued to do well, and the billionaire has added around $9 billion to his net worth each and every year.

The majority of his wealth is currently tied up in Facebook stock. He owns around 400 million shares in the company. According to Investopedia, he is currently the owner of about 80% of the company’s Class B stocks, giving him majority voting rights. The tech guru also invests in other stocks and appears to have a pretty good handle on picking winners.

What does Mark Zuckerberg spend his money on?

Zuckerberg was clearly after a deal when he stepped into Costco recently, but that doesn’t mean he’s always a bargain shopper. Zuckerberg, along with Chan, has pledged to give away the majority of their wealth throughout Zuckerberg’s lifetime. Most of the money will be going to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, an LLC that aims to cure and treat diseases across the world. The initiative also offers educational opportunities.

When they aren’t pledging money to charity, the couple is busy buying property. Zuckerberg has expanded his real estate holdings to include property in Palo Alto, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, and Kauai. According to Business Insider, the Kauai property spans 750 acres, and cost a reported $100 million. It also houses a farm that includes goats and turtles, according to Instagram pictures. It seems that whenever Zuckerberg and Chan purchase a property, they also buy adjacent real estate for privacy purposes. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have the same habit.
