‘The Young and the Restless’: Courtney Hope Said She and Fiancé Chad Duell ‘Balance’ Each Other Out With Their Personalities
Courtney Hope and Chad Duell are one hot couple in the soap opera world. She is an actor on The Young and the Restless, while he is a familiar face on General Hospital. The two of them are similar but also different. According to Hope, they have personality traits that allow for a “balance” between them.
How did Courtney Hope and Chad Duell meet?
Hope and Duell first met at a house party, and they were introduced by Duell’s former co-star, Bryan Craig. At the time, Hope was auditioning for a role on General Hospital, which led her and Duell to talk.
As Hope shared with Soap Opera Digest, although she and Duell hit it off immediately, she was hesitant about pursuing a relationship with him. She said, “I was kind of like, ‘I’m gonna keep my distance even though I really like this guy.’ I didn’t want to be working with him and starting a relationship; that is just not really who I am.”
Hope did not end up getting the role, so she and Duell ended up pursuing a relationship together.
After dating for a year, they moved in with each other in 2017. Then, on Valentine’s Day 2021, Duell proposed to Hope during a romantic picnic.

During an appearance on Maurice Benard’s mental health series, State of Mind, Hope and Benard talked about Duell’s “closed off” personality.
“Does he open up?” Benard asked. “He seems a little bit closed off.”
Hope explained, “He has opened more and more since we’ve dated, for sure.”
According to Hope, Duell’s personality also fits with her well because she gets “very stressed out sometimes,” and Duell is more relaxed.
“We’re a good balance,” she said.
Courtney Hope and Chad Duell plan to wed in the fall
Ever since their romantic proposal, fans have been wondering when Hope and Duell will get married. According to Soap Dirt, the couple’s wedding date is set to be October 23, 2021.
In their engagement interview with People, both Hope and Duell shared that they are “excited” about their future together.
“I am so excited for so much about our future,” Hope said. “Just getting to create memories forever, our future children and family, the places we’ll travel and all the laughs we’ll have makes me so thrilled to think about. I enjoy every day with him, so each present moment is beyond fulfilling.”
Meanwhile, Duell admitted, “It’s fun to say fiancée and plan a wedding. It’s a whole new step and a lot of excitement for our future. I get to call her my wife! I’m excited for a lot: our future kids, new adventures, a new home and having my best friend to grow old with.”
“It’s a blast to be getting to spend forever with my best friend,” Hope shared.
