Sasha Calle is the first Latina to portray Supergirl

While starring in The Young and the Restless has been Calle’s biggest role so far, she is about to play an even more well-known character. According to Deadline, the young actor will star as the DC hero Supergirl. Calle will make her superhero debut in the movie The Flash. About 425 actresses auditioned for the role, but Calle stood out to the directors and producers.

Director Andy Muschietti stated. “I saw more than four hundred auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role.” Another reason Calle is making headlines is that she will be the first Latina woman to play Supergirl. The first actor to play the character was Helen Slater in 1984. Recently, Supergirl TV star Melissa Benoist shared her support of Calle’s casting.

A lot of times, actors cannot appear in a project due to scheduling conflicts with another production. Now that Calle is going to be in The Flash, fans wonder what this means for Lola. Will the actor leave The Young and the Restless behind? According to Soaps, there is speculation that viewers may see less of Calle in future episodes. Her character has her marriage with Kyle fall apart.

While she could have had a romantic storyline with Theo, their flirtations did not go anywhere. There even was an opportunity for a potential pregnancy storyline. With nothing keeping her in the show, there is a high chance that Calle will leave The Young and the Restless to film for The Flash. Fans may be sad at the thought of having to say goodbye to Lola Rosales. Many people still are excited to see her performance in the upcoming DC film.
