Days of Our Lives is the first soap to put out a holiday movie. The hit NBC daytime drama is proving it can adapt to the times with its upcoming film, A Very Salem Christmas, which will premiere on Peacock. Peacock is, of course, the streaming service made available by NBC. A Very Salem Christmas will premiere on the streaming network on December 16. But ahead of its premiere, the production company has made some exclusive stills available for fun perusal.

‘A Very Salem Christmas’ will star many ‘Days of Our Lives’ castmembers

The success of Beyond Salem seems to have convinced the Days of Our Lives Powers That Be that streaming is the wave of the future when it comes to daytime soap operas. And that, in part, may be why fans are getting treated to A Very Salem Christmas.

According to Deadline, the first-ever Days-themed movie is currently being taped for Peacock. And it goes without saying that the film will be hitting all the right notes. It’s the first-ever Days movie. It’s also the first-ever Days Christmas movie. Who can resist this combination?

We already know that Eileen Davidson — who, as of late, has been playing a version of Kristen DiMera that’s been visiting poor John Black in the crypt — will star in the film. Chandler Massey, who plays Will, will be the focus of the film. And the story will focus on “a day in the life” of Will, and how he’s writing a “movie within a movie” about his life in the fictional town of Salem.

Some fan-favorite storylines will be revisited

Soaps.com has a few exclusive photos from the upcoming Days of Our Lives movie. And, needless to say, it features a lot of ugly Christmas sweaters. You won’t be able to resist Drake Hogestyn’s John in the single ugliest Christmas sweater in history.

But more than that, A Very Salem Christmas will feature some fan-favorite storylines. For example, Will and Sonny — daytime’s first openly gay couple — will feature heavily in the film. Davidson, as usual, is heavy on the evil camp as Kristen DiMera. And Jackée Harry proves she’s an icon with a Cruella DeVil-like swoop in her hair.

As the kids today say, hurt us, Queen!

What else do we know about ‘A Very Salem Christmas’?

“[The film] follows Will Horton as he writes a screenplay before his Christmas Eve deadline,” reports the outlet. “Using everyone’s favorite feel-good holiday movie tropes, he creates a festive story based on his family and friends in Salem — but with several twists and turns you’ll never see coming.”

The outlet also confirms that fans can expect to see their other “favorites” in the film. Considering how many surprises were in store for Beyond Salem — including the return of Charles Shaughnessy’s Shane Donovan — we can expect more delightful surprises and Christmas cheer. Which is, of course, exactly what Days of Our Lives was hoping to do!
