Zendaya first captured our hearts when she played the adorable and sassy dance-loving teenager, Rocky Blue, in the hit Disney Channel series Shake It Up. Since then, she has starred in other movies and TV series, including her exceptional performance in Spider-Man: Far From Home

While we know all about Zendaya’s impressive career, we don’t know much about her personal life. She is definitely a very private person, but one thing that she has not been shy about sharing with her fans is the fact that she is a vegetarian. The K.C. Undercover star had recently told her fans that just because she does not eat meat, doesn’t mean that she still can’t enjoy fast food restaurants like the rest of us. So, what kind of vegetarian dishes does Zendaya get when she goes through the drive-thru? Keep reading to find out.

Why did Zendaya choose to become a vegetarian?

Zendaya grew up in a home where some sort of meat was usually served very day. However, she once told People that she first started to question whether she wanted to continue to eat meat when she was just 11 years old. That was how old she was when she and her dad took a road trip across the country. During their trip, Zendaya recalls passing by a slaughterhouse and asking her dad what it was. Her dad then told her about what happens at slaughterhouses and how we get the meat we eat.

After she realized how animals are slaughtered, she decided that she was going to be a vegetarian. She shared with People that it was her love of animals that made her decide to stop eating meat altogether.

“I thought it was awful, all of those animals being packed up in there waiting to be killed. I couldn’t believe that’s how I’d been getting my meat,” Zendaya said.

Zendaya may not eat meat anymore, but that doesn’t mean that she still can’t have a delicious meal at her favorite fast-food restaurant.

Recently, she shared a few of her favorite fast food vegetarian meals on her blog. She says that she eats out at fast-food restaurants almost every day. Some of her favorite restaurants include Subway, Chick-Fil-A, and Chipotle. The 23-year-old singer and actress said that you can still order your favorite meals, just ask for the meat to be left out of the meal.

At Chipotle, she creates her own meat-free salad bowl. There is a wide range of veggies to choose from, but she recommends getting the cilantro-lime white rice, black beans, romaine lettuce, guacamole, cheese, and tomato salsa. She says that those ingredients mixed together are a perfect flavor combination.

She even loves to go to In-And-Out Burger. One of her favorite things from the famous burger joint is a grilled cheese with onions and extra spread. She says that when you combine them with the messy, but delicious, animal-styled fries, the meal is out-of-this-world good.

Does Zendaya ever miss eating meat?

Zendaya has been a vegetarian for quite a few years now. She says that she doesn’t even like the taste of meat anymore, but she admits that when she first decided to be a vegetarian, she would have dreams about meat. She recalled one dream where giant hamburgers would rain out of the sky.

Zendaya said that her meat craving only lasted for a few days, and she no longer has the desire to ever eat meat again. She does, however, miss eating her mom’s “famous turkey burgers,” but maybe her mom is learning how to cook famous veggie burgers instead.
