Zendaya is on top of the world these days. The actress just wrapped the first season of her new HBO show, Euphoria, and starred in the blockbuster film Spiderman: Far From Home earlier this Summer. The world seems completely enamored with the 22-year-old and is keen on watching her every move. Zendaya can be pretty fairly private about her personal life, but she just revealed something super surprising about one of her parents.

Confidence

Though Zendaya seems full of self-confidence and always looks red carpet ready, she admits that it is absolutely a process. “Confidence takes time. A lot of people would be like, “Why don’t you just love yourself?” or “Why don’t you just feel better?” That stuff is much easier said than done. Growing to understand and appreciate yourself takes time. And we’re all figuring it out,” she said in a recent interview with InStyle.

Zendaya says her mother had a “butterfly moment”

Zendaya was also quick to further elaborate on her point by referencing one of her parents. “My mom did it at 50. I call it her butterfly moment. She became confident and got more in touch with who she was at 50. It can happen at any point in your life. Just don’t rush that process. Let yourself feel things and know it’s OK to be a little slower than others,” the 22-year-old confessed about her mom growing into her confidence.

Zendaya’s parents, Claire Stoermer & Kazembe Ajamu

This is far from the first time Zendaya has spoken about her incredible her parents were. Back in 2015, the actress took the time to shut down some harsh critics who were calling her parents “ugly”. When photos of Zendaya with her parents emerged, trolls immediately began leaving tweeting hateful comments about the pair of them on Twitter. Users said terrible things like they “would cry” if their parents look like Zendaya’s. Others were unsure about how two ‘ugly” people produced such a beautiful child.

Clapping back to trolls on Twitter

Never one to not speak her mind, Zendaya immediately tweeted back at the person from whom the harsh comments originated. “First, I’m going to pray for you. While you’re so concerned about what my parents look like, please know that these are two of the most selfless people in the world. They have chosen to spend their entire life, not worried about trivial things such as looks and insulting people’s parents on Twitter, but instead became educators who have dedicated their lives to teaching, cultivating and filling young, shallow, minds,” the Euphoria actress wrote.

A beautiful family

She then ended her message, urging the critic to do more constructive things with their time like taking a deep look at what was going on inside of them. “Please, log out, go to school, hug a teacher and read a textbook and while you’re at it, go look in the mirror and know that you too are beautiful, because such hateful things only stem from internal struggles. Bless you. -Me and my beautiful family” the former Disney darling concluded.

We love the love and support that Zendaya expresses for her parents. Clearly, the pair have done something right to produce such a talented, eloquent, and gracious child. We’ve enjoyed watching Zendaya’s career continue to transform and we can’t wait to see what’s next for the talented 22-year-old.
