When you are the daughter of a famous rock star and a famous actress, standing on your own talent can be extremely challenging. As the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, Zoë Kravitz knows this all too well. Though the actress has long-since stepped out of her parents’ shadows in her roles in Big Little Lies, High Fidelity, and the Fantastic Beasts franchise, it was still hard for her to figure out exactly who she is within the entertainment industry.

With a forthcoming role as Catwoman in The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, Kravitz has certainly defined herself as her own woman. However, that did not stop the Californication alum from trying to distance herself from her famous family when she first started out in her career.

In fact, the Mad Max: Fury Road actress once tried to get rid of her last name

Zoë Kravitz’s net worth is staggering

Kravitz’s interest in acting was so profound that she began working on her first two films in 2007, during her senior year in high school. No Reservations and The Brave One launched her career, and she hasn’t looked back since. Since then, Kravitz has appeared in numerous films and TV shows and she’s just getting started.

As a result of her hard work and the tireless pursuit of her craft, the actress already has a massive net worth. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the actress is worth $8 million, and because she hasn’t even dived into the meat and potatoes of her career, this will only expand in the coming years.

Kravitz has also been brilliant about the way she earns her money. In addition to her massive payday from Big Little Lies, the actress also earns money from her beauty endorsements like the Vera Wang and Yves Saint Laurent fragrances.

Zoë Kravitz tried to get rid of her last name

Still, before her career really launched, the Divergent actress seriously considered shedding her last name so that she could separate herself from her famous parents. During a recent episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, the actress revealed that she really considered ditching her famous moniker and going by Zoë Isabella instead.

“I thought about not using it,” she explained. “I kind of tried to do it, but it just like didn’t stick. People kept on forgetting. No one was responding to this idea I had. I would tell my agent and it just wasn’t happening.”

Zoë Kravitz’s father Lenny Kravitz was deeply hurt by the suggestion

It didn’t help that no one could remember to call the actress, Zoë Isabella, she also revealed that her father Lenny Kravitz was hurt by the suggestion. “I also think I mentioned it to my dad at one point and I think I could feel that it made him a little sad,” the Rough Night star remembered. “So, yeah, I just kind of stuck with it. I did used to be really insecure about people just associating me with my family and now I love it—I’m so proud of them and it’s cool.”

We’re glad Kravitz stuck with her name, we think it’s pretty amazing.
