50 Cent Says There’s No Way Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Will ‘Recover’ Financially After Prison and Lawsuits
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson was the executive producer on a recent docuseries about his longtime rival, Sean “Diddy” Combs. To promote Sean Combs: The Reckoning, Jackson has spoken at length about his thoughts on Combs and his recent conviction. While Jackson believes the disgraced mogul will change for the better after his time in prison, he doesn’t think his reputation or finances will recover.
50 Cent doubts that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will recover his finances or reputation
Combs is currently serving out his 50-month prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. While his trial is over and his sentence is underway, Combs still faces a mountain of civil suits. There are over 50 lawsuits accusing him of sexual abuse. His lawyers have adamantly denied the allegations against him.
“Mr. Combs will not back down,” his lawyer, Erica Wolff, said in a statement, per The New York Times. “We will fight each and every civil case for as long as necessary to win his full vindication.”
Still, Combs could owe a great deal of money as a result of the civil suits. Jackson believes Combs should have taken action to protect himself.
“His finances are dwindling,” he said. “[He] should have filed for bankruptcy.”
He added that he thinks the civil suits will permanently damage Combs’ wallet and reputation.
“[There’s not a way back for him] in entertainment,” Jackson told Us Weekly. “I think the lawsuits will finish off his finances, and [he] won’t be able to recover.”
50 Cent thinks Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ time in prison will change him
While Jackson believes Combs’ time as a wealthy public figure is over, he hopes that he will change after time in prison.
“Everyone is capable of change, but some people have to go through more to see a reason for change,” he said. “I’m not sure. I hope so.”
Combs has been taking part in a drug rehabilitation program at Fort Dix. He has also reportedly spent much of his time praying.
“He’s going to come home and be spiritual,” Jackson said. “The experience will help him.”
Combs’ lawyers have insisted that he is already a changed man, though many of his victims have expressed doubt that this is true.
He shared why he has never been afraid to speak out about the disgraced mogul
Jackson insists that his involvement in Sean Combs: The Reckoning has nothing to do with the longtime rivalry between the men. Still, he has never hesitated to speak his mind about Combs.
“Well, he’s a big part of the culture, and he made it to a respectable position within the culture,” Jackson said. “So any smart person would pick their fights and say, ‘It’s not my business, so why say something?’ I was comfortable saying stuff about him because I’ve been saying it for 20 years.”
He said he has no concerns about potential backlash after the release of the docuseries.
“I’m telling a story no one else is telling because I don’t have the fear that [others] feel towards him,” he explains. “I’m not afraid at all.”
