For someone who rose to fame at such a young age, Justin Bieber didn’t seem to get very much media training. At the very least, no one schooled the singer on how to use Instagram covertly. Justin Bieber is reportedly at it again on Instagram. The popstar was recently caught liking a photo of himself with his long-ago ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez. The social media action comes just days after fans spotted a blind item on Deuxmoi that could only be about the Biebers. The blind item was quickly deleted.  If this were Bieber’s only social media faux pas, we’d probably just let it go, but it isn’t the first. It isn’t even his fifteenth social media misstep. Let’s take a look back at his biggest Instagram mistakes.

Justin Bieber is back in the news for liking a post about his ex

Justin Bieber is back in the news for his Instagram activity. Over the weekend, social media went wild when a screengrab showed Justin Bieber’s Instagram account had liked a photo of the popstar with his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez. The steam snapshot featured the former lovebirds kissing.

According to the Daily Mail, Bieber allegedly liked the post before quickly undoing the action. It’s unclear if Bieber actually did like the content, though. Fans weighing in insist it happened, but Bieber’s camp isn’t speaking on the issue. If he did actually like the photo, it’s possible he accidentally double-tapped it. While that is a seemingly innocent explanation, it doesn’t explain why Bieber would be checking out photos of himself and his ex on the platform, though.

Just months ago, everyone was talking about him unfollowing his wife

While Justin Bieber’s decision to like a photo of himself kissing Selena Gomez is his latest Instagram stunt to go viral, it is far from his first. 2025 was filled with Instagram drama for the popstar. At one point, he unfollowed his wife, Hailey Bieber. She unfollowed him months later. They quickly rectified the situation, but speculation was swift.

Back in early 2025, Justin Bieber stopped following Hailey Bieber on Instagram. Fans were alarmed, but he returned to the platform to insist someone had accessed his account and was trying to stir up drama. He began following her again, and fans mostly ignored the situation. In March 2025, after a particularly uncomfortable Instagram Live session, fans noted that Hailey Bieber had unfollowed Justin Bieber. The Biebers returned to the platform to claim that a “glitch” was responsible for Hailey not following Justin’s account. No other account she followed was affected by the alleged glitch.

Selena Gomez’s engagement news had him going crazy, too

In December 2024, Selena Gomez announced her engagement to Benny Blanco. The announcement appeared to set Justin Bieber into something of a spiral. His social media activity grew more frequent and outwardly hostile. In April 2025, as the couple promoted their new album, I Said I Love You First, Bieber shared a Gollum meme on Instagram. The meme, which featured Golluim holding up a ring, read “girls on social media when they get engaged.”

The not-so-subtly dig was very clearly directed at his ex. She had been happily discussing her engagement across multiple TV shows and podcasts in the days before Bieber’s off-brand share. The “Love Yourself” singer never revealed if the upload was directed at his ex. Gomez didn’t comment on it either. Benny Blanco, who collaborated with Bieber frequently before linking up with Gomez, also ignored the situation, at least publicly.

Chaotic Instagram Live events leave fans with questions and concerns

Justin Bieber’s love life isn’t the only thing that has garnered attention on Instagram over the last few years. His chaotic appearance, confrontational posting style, and lack of coherence during several late-night Instagram Live events have left fans questioning and concerned.

In early 2025, Bieber, who had welcomed a child with Hailey Bieber in 2024, spent hours on Instagram Live late into the evenings. He wasn’t relaxing with fans, though. His demeanor was anxious, and his speech pattern noticeably different. Fans questioned whether he was in the midst of a mental health crisis or using drugs. He never commented on the concerns, though his Instagram Live habits did change.
