A ‘Gilmore Girls’ Book Is In The Works: These Titles Will Hold You Over Until Its 2027 Release
Gilmore Girls fans are finally getting something they’ve wished for, at least, sort of. Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino are teaming up once again, and it’s for a Gilmore Girls-related project. It’s just not a TV show or a special. Sherman-Palladino, the mastermind behind the series, and Graham, the actor who portrayed Lorelai Gilmore, are penning a book together. The book will be about the beloved series and will be released in 2027. While fans wait, several other titles offer behind-the-scenes glimpses of the show and everything that went into making it.

Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino made a big announcement recently. Two months after Lauren Graham was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she announced her intention to write another book. This won’t be a solo project, though. Graham and Sherman-Palladino announced they are working together on a behind-the-scenes book bout Gilmore Girls together via a publishing announcement by Celadon Books, an imprint of McMillan.
According to the official press release, the still-untitled project will be released in the fall of 2027. It promises to take fans behind the scenes of Gilmore Girls. The coworkers-turned-pals promise plenty of never-before-heard tales, both from the original series and the 2016 Netflix revival. How they plan to structure the work remains unknown. After the official press release, Graham took to Instagram to share the good news.

While the non-fiction work is still more than a year away from release, at the very earliest, Gilmore Girls fans can get their fix with previously published books. Lauren Graham, herself, has published two books that touch on her time on Gilmore Girls. Talking as Fast as I Can was her debut memoir and includes anecdotes about her time on the show. Her second non-fiction book, Have I Told You This Already?: Stories I Don’t Want to Forget to Remember, is more focused on tales from her life, but her time on the show does come up.
Lauren Graham isn’t the only star who wrote a book, though. Kelly Bishop, the actor who played Emily Gilmore, also penned a memoir. Her book, The Third Gilmore Girl, takes fans through he entire career, including her time on the beloved 2000s dramedy. The stories are told from the perspective of a seasoned stage and movie actor, and feel insightful and rich.
In addition to the memoirs, there are various companion books, children’s books, and even a few coloring books intended to bring Gilmore Girls fans a bit closer to the action. Cookbooks about the show have also been published. Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook was released in 2022 and offers over 50 recipes inspired by the show. Gilmore Girls: Sookie’s Recipe Book: An Official Cookbook, released in 2025, is a companion cookbook. It focuses entirely on Sookie St. James and the delectible food she served up at the Independence Inn and then the Dragonfly Inn.
