A Judge Has Concerns About Both Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen
Taylor Frankie Paul’s personal life has never been neat and tidy. After all, she rose to fame because of a scandal. At this point, however, everybody seems to agree that things have gone too far. While the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star has been bearing the brunt of the backlash, a judge doesn’t think she’s solely to blame for the drama in her relationship. A judge recently granted her a restraining order. Aapparently they have concerns about “both sides” regarding Paul and her estranged ex, Dakota Mortensen.
Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen faced off in court
Dakota Mortensen and Taylor Frankie Paul had their day in court. The former reality TV couple appeared remotely in a Utah court on April 7 to discuss custody of their two-year-old son, Ever. Paul, who previously had primary custody of the toddler, was barred from seeing him after Mortensen filed for an order of protection following a domestic violence incident in February. Paul filed her own order of protection just hours before the court date.
Now, a judge has spoken. While Paul’s custody was not restored, she was granted supervised visitation with the boy. According to the Los Angeles Times, she will be allowed to see him for up to 8 hours per week under supervision. The decision is a temporary one until the courts can address a more permanent custody arrangement, depending on how the criminal side of the case shakes out.
A judge has concerns about both parties
While Taylor Frankie Paul has been the physical aggressor in her tumultuous relationship with Dakota Mortensen, the judge presiding over their case isn’t entirely sure Mortensen is blameless here. During the April 7 hearing, Third District Court Commissioner Russell Minas raised concerns over both parties’ actions.
He said he was concerned by Mortensen’s alleged baiting of Paul. At the same time, he also expressed concern over Paul’s aggressive and overblown reaction to such behavior. No final decisions were made during the hearing. Still, Minas’ concern about Mortensen’s actions during disagreements with his ex-girlfriend is an interesting development.
Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen will next be in court on April 30. The April 30 hearing will review Mortensen’s order of protection. While criminal charges have not yet been filed in the case, it remains a possibility.
Filming for season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is on hiatus as the troubled duo deal with the legal fallout of their alleged domestic violence incident. It is unclear when, or if, the cast will resume filming. It is also unclear whether Mortensen or Paul will continue with the show. Hulu has not issued a statement regarding the show’s future just yet. The cast is reportedly thankful for the pause, though.
