Adele has been a successful singer since before her son, Angelo, was born, but he once seemed far more impressed by Taylor Swift. For a while, Angelo only watched Adele rehearsing for concerts; he didn’t watch one of her shows until he was a bit older. As a result, he found one of Swift’s concerts awe-inspiring, which Adele joked she found frustrating.

Adele joked she felt annoyed by her son’s reaction to a Taylor Swift concert

Adele tries to live out of the public eye as much as possible when she isn’t actively promoting her music. As a result, she said her son didn’t know she was famous during her early years. He had no idea that she performed for massive audiences. This became obvious to her when she took him to one of Swift’s concerts in 2018.

“His jaw dropped,” she told Vogue. “I got really annoyed! I was like, Excuse me! This is what I do, you know.”

Adele said the massive number of people in attendance astonished her son.

“He’s like, ‘So many people come to her shows,'” she told Oprah Winfrey (via People). “But I make him leave before they all arrive. It was so cute and so funny.”

He seemed more interested in the possibility of Swift attending one of Adele’s concerts than actually seeing his mother perform.

“He said, When we go on tour, should I have a seat next to me with Taylor Swift’s name on it for Taylor to come?

She has noted that he is also a fan of Billie Eilish.

He finally saw her perform in 2021

In 2021, Adele finally showed Angelo what she does for work. The then-nine-year-old was in the audience at her One Night Only concert special.

“It’s the absolute honor of my life to have you here tonight, baby,” she said after telling the crowd it was the first time he’d attended one of her concerts.

She later noted that she had “never been so nervous” before in her life. While she said that this gave Angelo some sense of how famous he is, he still didn’t fully understand it.

Taylor Swift recently broke a record held by Adele

After the release of her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift broke a record held by Adele since the release of her album 25. 25 sold 3.482 million units in its first week; Showgirl sold 4 million units. The “Blank Space” singer thanked her fans for helping her set a new record.

Since then I’ve tried to meet and thank as many people as I could who have given me the chance to chase this insane dream.”
