Alex and Kayla Vesia announce the loss of their newborn baby

Alex Vesia and Kayla Vesia have announced the death of their newborn daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia. The duo, in an Instagram update that appeared on both of their pages, revealed the baby girl died on October 26, just days after Vesia stepped back from team life to attend to a family issue. In the statement, they noted their unimaginable pain, but also the moments they had to cherish their child. They went on to thank the fans, the Dodgers organization, and the medical staff who attended to their baby girl. They did not share what led to the newborn’s passing.

Kayla Vesia kept fans updated on her pregnancy beginning in April, when she and her pitcher husband announced their upcoming arrival. In a sweet pregnancy announcement, the pair kissed while holding open a newspaper announcing that they were expecting. Throughout the pregnancy, Kayla shared photos of her travels, date nights, and baby bump. While they didn’t share their exact due date, it was obvious from bump updates that their baby girl was due to arrive sometime in November. Sterling is the couple’s first child.

Following the official announcement of their child’s passing, Dodger personnel and MLB players flooded into the comments section to offer their love and support.

The Dodgers announced his absence ahead of the World Series

The organization simply stated that it was with heavy hearts that they announced Vesia’s absence, explaining that he was navigating a “deeply personal” family matter. Fans flooded Alex and Kayla Vesia’s social media feeds, concerned for their well-being and that of their baby. The couple remained quiet through the series.
