D4vd has yet to be charged in connection with Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death. Still, reports indicate police are eying the TikTok star as a suspect. While the LAPD continues to investigate, a private investigator is reportedly on the case, too. He has claimed to have found some pretty strange items inside the Hollywood Hills rental home D4vd was living in when the teen’s body was discovered inside the trunk of his Tesla. The lease on that property ended early after police raided the home in the weeks after the gruesome discovery.

A private investigator was hired to comb over the home after a police raid

A private investigator was allegedly hired by Malden Trifunovic. Trifunovic, the owner of the property that was rented for D4vd by his manager, had little indication that anything was amiss until the LAPD raided the Hollywood Hills home. After D4vd and his manager broke the lease early, he hired Steve Fischer to investigate what may have happened at the rental property.

Previously, Trifunovic told the Daily Mail that the home has a security system complete with cameras, though he said he hands over access to those feeds to tenants when they move in. He also noted that there hadn’t been any trouble at the property that he was aware of for the duration of D4vd’s stay. He moved into the home in February 2024 and broke the lease early in September 2025. It’s unclear whether he held a multi-year lease or whether the artist’s manager renewed it at some point.

A private investigator found a burn cage and farming tools in D4vd’s rental pad

While the LAPD combed the property before it was returned to Malden Trifunovic, it appears there were more than a few items of interest left behind. After D4vd vacated the property, Fischer looked inside and found a burn cage. A bun cage is an outdoor incinerator intended for the disposal of yard waste. While commonly used in some parts of the country, they are banned in Los Angeles County. The county has significant fire safety concerns, and outdoor burns are largely prohibited. Fischer says the cage was ordered under a pseudonym, never used, and discovered still in its original box.

Weeks ago, Fischer revealed that he also found farming equipment inside the home. He said the equipment felt inconsistent for the area and D4vd’s lifestyle. While Fischer didn’t delve deeper into what type of equipment he found, he did describe it as “heavy duty.” It is unclear how many people were living in the home while it was rented to the musician’s team. Trifunovic alleges that he was unaware the music artist was staying at the property, though. He insists his management company dealt directly with D4vd’s manager, Josh Marshall.

Where is D4vd now?

While a grand jury was apparently hearing evidence regarding Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death, D4vd remains a free man. It is, however, unclear exactly where he is at the moment. The music artist who rose to fame on TikTok as a teen canceled the European leg of his tour in September. D4vd moved out of the rental property shortly after the police raid.

Since then, he’s gone largely underground. His social media pages remain untouched. While it’s unclear exactly where he is living, D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, has spent some time moving assets around. He transferred ownership of his Houston home to his mother, for example.
