She made the announcement during a TikTok live event, insisting that she had not been fired and, instead, opted to leave for mental health concerns. In the days leading up to the announcement, rumors swirled that MTV had finally axed Portwood.
Regardless of how the end of her tenure came to be, Portwood was pretty bitter about the situation. She called for the series to be canceled completely. While it is unclear what is going on with Teen Mom: The Next Chapter going forward, the cast is currently taking a break from filming.

Instead, she insisted she would eventually fill fans in. It sounds like she has some sort of project in the works. She also chatted about a recent visit to New York City.
Portwood’s last publicized trip in June 2024 didn’t end well. The mother of two reported her then-fiancé missing after he left a North Carolina cabin he had been sharing with her. According to Portwood, he simply disappeared into the night. She later admitted they had a spirited conversation before he left. Gary Wayt, whom she had met just months earlier, was found safe in another state. They ended their engagement quickly. While she hasn’t debuted a new relationship, rumors have swirled that Wayt was engaged again just months later. He has been keeping a lower profile ever since.
