Amy Schumer Opens Up About 50-Pound Weight Loss and Chris Fischer Divorce Rumors
After a great deal of speculation about her recent weight loss and marriage, Amy Schumer took to social media to clear some things up. The actor and comedian recently posted a room tour filmed by her son, Gene. In text over the video, Schumer addressed questions people have had about her altered appearance. She shared that her weight loss has nothing to do with her marriage, but instead helped her navigate her Cushing syndrome diagnosis.
Amy Schumer recently opened up about her weight loss and marriage
On Dec. 1, Schumer posted an Instagram Reel filmed by her six-year-old son. In text over the video, Schumer wrote that she doesn’t get Botox or filler, and recently lost 50 pounds.
“Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary,” she wrote. “I did it to survive …”
She referenced her Cushing syndrome diagnosis. The condition is the result of high levels of Cortisol. This can cause a round face, weight gain, high blood pressure, and bone loss.
“I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you, but the internet caught it, and the disease has cleared,” Schumer wrote. “Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight.”
She added, “I’ve had plastic surgery over the years, and I use Mounjaro. Sorry to anyone [who] feels let down. I’m pain-free. I can [play] tag with my son.”
She noted that she would be happy to answer any further questions, but made it clear that her weight loss had nothing to do with her marriage to Chris Fischer. Divorce rumors have swirled, and she recently stepped out without her wedding ring.
“Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she wrote, adding, “Fingers crossed we make it through, he’s the best.”
Schumer has since deleted the Reel, but left a screenshot of the text on her Instagram Story.
Madonna defended Amy Schumer after her weight loss
After Schumer posted the Reel, Madonna jumped to her defense in the comments. She told the actor and comedian that she had no reason to apologize to fans.
“Why do you feel like you need to apologize for looking after yourself?” she wrote. “People are always going to have their judgments and their opinions. Do what makes you feel happy and healthy.”
When did she marry Chris Fischer?
Schumer and Fischer, a celebrity chef, began dating in 2017. Just months into their relationship, they had a short engagement and got married.
“It was a very chill wedding. It was thrown together last minute,” a source told Us Weekly. “Most of the guests found out the wedding was happening on Tuesday from a text message sent out by Amy on Sunday. It was like, ‘Hey, this is happening. If you can make it, great. If not, no worries.’ People were in and out all night. It was a gorgeous day. Everyone was having a good time.”
In 2019, the couple welcomed their son, Gene. The couple keeps a low profile, but speculation about their marriage ramped up after Schumer posted a photo without her wedding ring.
