And Just Like That… has plenty of critics, but as the show moves through its third season, viewers are finding plenty to love. Anthony Marantino, his romance with a younger man, and his sourdough business were an unexpected plot twist that viewers fell in love with. Now, they are watching Anthony struggle to find his footing in the world of brick-and-mortar bakeries. That left us wondering, is Hot Fellas Bakery real? As it turns out, it’s fictional, but the network did launch a pop-up, and we know precisely where scenes in the bakery were filmed.

Hot Fellas isn’t real, but its popularity did spawn a pop-up

Anthony Marantino’s fictional business started with a fictional sourdough starter in his fictional kitchen during the very real pandemic. That’s the backstory we were told in And Just Like That… and it remains one of the highlights of the controversial Sex and the City reboot. While many businesses featured in the series are very real, Hot Fellas is, unfortunately, not one of them.

It did come to life briefly, though. To celebrate the popularity of the fictional hunk-centric bread business, Max hosted a pop-up in New York City last weekend. On June 14 and June 15, fans were invited to stop by the East Village for freshly-baked goods and exclusive merch. Max even teamed up with Grubhub to offer a Hot Fellas bundle for And Just Like That… fans who couldn’t make it out.

The pop-up took over Librae Bakery, located at 35 Cooper Square, for the day. While it served as a great location for the pop-up, it’s not where actual scenes for the series were filmed. Scenes in and around the bakery were filmed about 80 blocks away.

Where were the bakery scenes filmed?

While Hot Fellas isn’t a real shop where you can buy croissants any day of the week, scenes revolving around the bakery were filmed on the streets of Manhattan. Based on several landmarks seen during filming, we can safely say that bakery scenes were filmed at a storefront on the corner of 88th Street and Madison Avenue.

While And Just Like That… transformed the storefront into Anthony’s bakery, in real life, the unit was empty, at least as of August 2024. Google Street View shows the “Hot Fellas” awning, albeit rolled up, on an otherwise abandoned storefront. While the corner retail space might seem inviting for a bakery or any other food-centric business, it hasn’t had very good luck in recent years. In fact, it looks like the fictional bakery is the most action the unit has seen in years. The retail space last served as a Chase Bank in 2018. It has been empty each time Google has updated its Street View images since then.
