The Teen Mom fandom is ready to put their support (and their money) behind Barbara Evans and Andrew Lewis. As the unlikely allies prepare to battle Jenelle Evans in court over custody of Jace Evans, they are asking fans for help. Andrew, Jace’s biological father, launched a GoFundMe, noting that it’s going to take time and money to bring Jace back to his grandmother’s home. The donations are rolling in, and donors are certainly sending a message to Jenelle Evans.

Barbara Evans and Andrew Lewis are seeking financial help for court and medical fees

Jace Evans’ father, Andrew Lewis, has launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking help for legal expenses and medical bills for Jace. The campaign was launched after Jenelle Evans allegedly cut Barbara Evans and Andrew Lewis out of Jace’s life following a hospitalization. Andrew notes that Jenelle is not actively involved in the teen’s care, but has ordered staff to prevent Andrew and Barbara from having direct contact with the boy.

In the campaign’s explanation, Lewis states that any funds collected will be used to cover legal costs to regain custody. He reiterated that the goal is to return Jace to his grandmother’s home so he can live in a loving environment. He said any additional funds will be used for Jace’s ongoing medical needs, which fans assume means any outpatient mental health care he may require.

Teen Mom fans seem ready and willing to donate to the cause. Within hours of the campaign going live, thousands have been collected. A browse of the donors also proves many donors are critics of Jenelle, with usernames that troll the controversial former reality TV star. Some of Jenelle’s former friends also appear to have donated to the fund.

Why is Barbara Evans fighting for custody of Jace again?

Barbara Evans was granted custody of Jace Evans way back in 2010, when the now-teen was just an infant. While his mother attempted to regain custody several times, she was unsuccessful until Barbara agreed to a custody change in 2023. Shortly after signing over custody, things took a dramatic turn for Jace. A series of runaway attempts ended with the teen telling police his stepfather, David Eason, physically attacked him. He was removed from the home at that time, and only returned to Jenelle Evans after David moved out. Jenelle’s rumored rekindled romance with David is believed to have led to the outburst that landed Jace in an inpatient facility.

While Jace was in Jenelle’s care from March 2023 to August 2025, off and on, he eventually returned to North Carolina to live with his grandmother. Things went quiet until earlier this month, when TMZ reported the teen was placed in a psychiatric hospital after he threatened to harm himself. Barbara is now fighting to regain custody because Jenelle has shut the septuagenarian out of the life of the grandson she raised. Barbara revealed her plans to fight for custody of the 16-year-old earlier this month. A court date is upcoming.
